Hey, we have a winner! In fact, we have three!
Congratulations to Julie Miyamoto, Matthew Myers, and Keith Gill, all of whom
were the first to spot Stan's hidden greeting to Todd Bustillo: on page 3 of
(Dark Horse) Usagi Yojimbo #37, the upper right corner of the last
panel contains a spider web spelling out the words "HI TODD"! Since all three
winners' letters were postmarked July 28, it really was a tie – and Stan could
have opted, as the contest rules made clear, to pick one of the three to win.
Instead, he has generously proposed to award all three winners with the 100
comics featuring our beloved rabbit ronin,
and by the time this sees print,
Julie, Matthew, and Keith should have received their collections!

Thanks to Jay Hosler – I mean Doctor Jay Hosler –
for the swell Usagi drawing featured here! Doc Hosler is, of course, the
talented creator of Clan Apis, a marvelous book about honey bees –
specifically one honey bee named Nyuki and her life cycle. I never would have
imagined that I'd enjoy the subject matter as much as I did, but the Doc
translates a lotta dry facts into a charming tale about a delightful little bee.

In addition to writing and drawing the final four chapters
in the Grasscutter II story arc, Stan has also been busy with a couple
different projects. First, you can check out Stan's pinup art in Bart
Simpson's Treehouse of Horror #6, on sale September 20 from Bongo Comics.
And coming up in November from Oni Press is Dan Brereton's Nocturnals: Troll
Bridge, a jam comic illustrated by twelve different artists, including
Stan, and featuring an appearance of Usagi, among other well-known characters.
