San Diego Comic Con 2001

Highlights from Todd Shogun's visit to the 1989 San Diego Comic Con!

I found these photos in an old photo album at my parents house. This was back when the SDCC was being held at the Performing Arts Center. The photos came out pretty bad unfortunately, especially the one with me and Stan (Stan if you're reading this and can dig up the one you took, send it to me!!!). The other person in the pictures was my sister Kelly. I was only 15 years old at the time, and this SDCC represents the first time I got a commissioned piece from Stan..a drawing of Usagi and Shingen in team-up mode!

The Con Exhibit Hall - where all the big companies displayed their stuff. Companies like New England Comics, Eclipse, First, Mirage Studios, Rock N Roll Comics, Nortstar, Marvel, DC, etc.

Todd poses for some pics with a few recently acquired UY goodies. This was up in the mezzanine area.

Todd was stoked to be able to get a piece of original art from Stan. He always came up empty handed previously (save for some free sketches)

Here's the piece, framed and all. This commission was done on a rather larger piece of art board that I brought with me to the con. I knew exactly what I wanted and knew exactly what size. Back then Stan was doing commissions at $25 a figure. This one I got for $45. RYAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
