Creepy #11 Pin-up

I'm doing a pin-up for the inside front cover to Creepy #11 from Dark Horse. Since this will be out in February, it will have a Valentine theme. I took my inspiration from the poster of Brett and Scarlet from Gone With the Wind. Of course, this piece will also be printed in my next sketchbook."

Creepy #11 is incorrect.

Dear Readers,
Steve Hubbell writes:
" I was going to guess Stan's painting of the Gaki in the Fantagraphics book "Beasts!" but that does not really have an issue number, even though there was a volume 2 sequel released.
And since you said Stan's pin-up in Creepy #11 was not the right answer, I won't bother mentioning that one either.
So, an occult publication might be something like a collection of ghost stories, or Kaidan as they are called in Japanese?
So I will make a guess of Shi: Kaidan #1 from Crusade, even though I don't think it is whatever you have in mind."

Shi: Kaidan #1 from Crusade publisher is incorrect.

Never give up.

Dear Readers,
No correct answers to our question:
" Sensei Sakai’s art was published in an occult publication.
Please name the publication."
The correct answer is "Kardz the Funny Animal Tarot" published by Keith O'Brien.
Your extra clue was the misspelling of arcane: "arKane".
One month ago i would not have been able to answer the question either.
I saw an eBay auction for mini comics that included work to be published in a tarot deck that included Sensei Sakai as an artist.
After research i found this page and was able to purchase the mini comics directly from the editor for half of the ebay asking price.
https://www.facebook.com/Kardz-the-Funn ... /timeline/
The original concept included inviting anthropomorphic artists to create a tarot card.
The best illustrations were made into a complete tarot deck to be purchased only by the illustrators (i am looking for one, if you see one...).
Sensei Sakai illustrated "The Star".
I purchased the entire set of 15 mini comics directly and have enjoyed my interactions with Keith O'Brien the genius behind this project.
Keith was also willing to sell the single comic, issue 13, with Sensei Sakai's contribution.
I was very happy to see illustrations by Steve Gallacci, Phil Yeh, Ben Dunn, Dave Sim, Donna Barr, Gilbert Shelton, Scott Shaw!, Batton Lash, Arn Saba, etc.
The writing is great and the illustrations are fun, even if you are not a student of the tarot.
A mini comic named "Samurai Slate" was also in the package, included for free.
Thank you very much to all of those who participated.
Thank you especially to Sensei Sakai for all of the amazing illustrations listed in this thread.
Best wishes to all!

Any chance you have a picture of "The Star"? I'd be interested in seeing it.

(double DOH on my part, because I was going to bid on it as well, and forgot when it ended!)

I noticed you misspelled that, but I had no idea it was on purpose. I misspell stuff all the time.

Tough question.

Yeah, tough question.

I think that multiple submitted answers were actually correct as they did contain Stan's artwork in what many would consider "occult" work (Occult as in "supernatural, mystical, or magical beliefs, practices, or phenomena") but not the "ONE" that you had in your mind.
