Popeye!

Postby Stan Sakai » Sun Sep 22, 2019 9:09 +0000

To help celebrate Popeye's 90 birthday, King Features asked me to do a Sunday strip. I was swamped with work in the spring, as I still am, and asked Scott Shaw! to help me with it. Scott wrote the gag and did the layout and I did the finished art. It was published today. Here is a link to it:

How cool is that! Nice! Congrats on being able to get a nationally syndicated comicstrip published! Popeye, no less. Was this also published in newspapers across the nation? Peace, maka

There's been plenty of stuff other than Usagi Yojimbo you made an artwork or two for. You've done it with several Marvel franchises, a few other stuff here and there, now, Popeye! What's next? BlazBlue? I hope so.

This is so cool!

I hope they do a book collection of this year of 'Popeye's Cartoon Club' strips. There are so many neat ones.

How neat!

I like it when artists are able to provide us with their take on another artist's characters.
