Crogan Adventure Society

Postby Steve Hubbell » Tue Jan 26, 2010 3:03 +0000

I just ran across this blog post and thought it was worth reposting here.....
Ben Towle (Cartoonist, Educator, Hobo) wrote:Hey, check out what arrived the mail on Friday: my membership card and official newsletter for the Crogan Adventure Society. If you’re not in the know, the Crogan Adventure books are a series of all-ages graphic novels about the adventures of the men of the fictional Crogan family. The first book, Crogan’s Revenge, was about a pirate and the newly-published Crogan’s March is about Legionnaires in North Africa. You can join the society over at Crogan cartoonist Chris Schweizer’s site. The initial newsletter contains–among other very cool things–a drawing of some of the Crogan’s March characters done by none other than Stan Sakai of Usagi Yojimbo fame.

I am member #27 of the Crogan Adventure Society. It is a neat little newsletter with preparatory drawings, background information, and guest artists.

Besides being the creator of Crogan's Adventures, Chris Schweizer is an instructor at the Savannah College of Art and Design Atlanta campus. He invited me to speak there in October. He has a great cartooning style, and is a natural storyteller.

Check out his two Crogan Adventure books from Oni Press.

Here is Chris' excellent blog.

I make a couple of guest appearances there, including a caricature that Chris drew for our conversation that ran in The Comics Journal #300 and, much further down, the color drawing I did for him and that ran in black and white in his newsletter.
