Well, Irma was a pain in the butt. :( I'm fine, but the same can't be said for my computer/comic room. A tree fell on the house and we were without power for three days and no cable/internet/phone for seven. After what I saw on tv today, it could have been much, much worse.

This is what happens when Usagi drinks too much water. The pages expanded so much that it looks like I fanned them out.

In total, I lost over 100 books. Thankfully, all of them can eventually be replaced. Unfortunately, some were signed and even had sketches in them. All the Saga books that were ruined had little non-Usagi sketches by Stan that he added during a small show in Ohio.

It's good to be back.

Glad to hear you are ok Gaf, sorry the same cant be said about your collection! When youre able to start collecting again I will try to find you good deals and auctions as I am still collecting them myself. I'm sure other dojo members have extras and can start helping you rebuild your collection at better prices.
Good to have you back in one piece,
- Jared

Ouch! I'm also glad to hear you're alright, but sorry to hear about the books... Are they at least salvageable?

The 100 books are not salvageable. The other books have had a fan blowing on them off and on since I got power back. I was trying to save as many as I could as the water was coming in through the roof. I had placed two flashlights on the ground so I could at least see what I was doing. I was grabbing stuff willy nilly!

In hindsight, I should have just let it all go. I had no idea if the tree would continue to fall in the house and who knows what type of particles I was breathing in while grabbing books. I'm still waiting to be assigned a claims adjustor, but I think they are sending them out to the most serious cases first. Have you ever read an insurance policy? Good grief, those are so confusing. I also find it crazy that you can only make minimal repairs until the adjustor actually sees the damage (remove tree/tarp roof/tear out stinky carpet, etc.)

Thanks for the offer, but I am going to wait until I hear what is covered by the personal property section of our policy. We pay an extra $800 a year for hurricane coverage so I would hope it covers most of my items. But after reading through the policy there are so many stipulations I don't know what is covered. The tree removal alone exceeded the deductible.

That's awful, hopefully it all will be covered! If you have a fire place be sure to cut that tree up and spend winter burning it. Small revenge :D

Can you spot the trickster fox? These puppet cards didn't make it through the storm unscathed so I decided to cut them out.
