My wife is Japanese, and I can say with a devlish grin, that I love talking in Japanese when we are in public, because we do nothing but talk smack about others. While we dont usually curse them out, we will talk about other things... for acceptable bad words... the most frequently used is aho or ba...

These are techniques I used to teach hyperactive japanese kids english, so I suppose it may be reversed engineered... This may be good for teaching any Kana or Kanji... learning only Romanji will only confuse things later in the process in my experience... but try getting similar looking kanji on sm...

true, it is a derivative of what they call ghengis khan style barbeque. Most Yakiniku places I went to in Japan also had all my favorite korean foods too... including Bibimba... let me wipe the drool off my keyboard...

Kyoto is definately a great place to go. I would recommend a little known shrine called Jizoin. Its not a major tourist attraction and most japanese dont know about it, so its really peaceful. Of course the other temples are really cool too... just very very crowded. your sensei probably already kno...

by the way... if its manga and anime your interested in... Akihabara is definately for you... there is a 5 story anime/manga store next to the train station called gamers.... and if your inner otaku-ness should sway you... there are several maid cafes around.

Tokyo is quite expensive, but in the end its worth it just for the experience. The salary is higher than it is here though so it kind of balances out.

You can buy a tokyo map at almost any bookstore. I got mine from barnes and nobles
