Pre-service teaching

I'm transitioning careers (military to teaching), and hope to eventually teach an Asian studies class at a local high school. Tonight in my education classes I'll be doing a reading from Grasscutter. Maybe I can convince some of my peers that using Usagi, and other graphic novels, can be intriguing ...

On the map

I'd LOVE to be added as the first in the Louisville Metropolitan area. (Georgetown, IN is just a few miles NW of Louisville.)

Call me silly, but I'd never seen this kind of map used for member sites before. I love it!

What a shame

Yeah, I can't believe Usagi (and Stan) didn't win. I've never even heard of the winner. A quick internet search finds claims that it's some sort of homosexual-themed romantic comedy work. (That's according to Wikipedia, so I cannot confirm accuracy.)

a crest by any other name

My Japanese isn't the best (two years in college), but yeah, I think crest is a fine English translation. The word in Nihongo, if I'm not mistaken, is usually pronounced "mon". Since Japanese alphabets are sound-based and not letter based, your mileage may vary!

Birthday present

I was stuck in Afghanistan for my son's 5th birthday in December 2004, so Stan was kind enough to help me give my son a fabulous, unique gift. Side note: Jeff ("Bone") Smith was kind enough to help me out in a similar situation a few years earlier for my daughter's 5th birthday. Anyway, I ...

Family Affair

I had to go with Jotaro because when my 7-yr-old and I read the comics together, I play Usagi and he plays Jotaro.

Made it in time

Who would've thought voting would be so engrossing? If I wasn't familiar with the majority of the nominees in a category, I had to research them! Well, at least the ones I could (visiting websites, checking out cover scans, etc). Made for a nice distraction from studing for the Graduate Record Exam!!

Support of Timeline

You certainly make a solid case, Cosmo. I hesitate trying to nail any firm timeline down, though, as this is fantasy. Still, I do like continuity. I wouldn't ever claim to publish an OFFICIAL timeline, however, without Mr. Sakai's approval.
