Thanks. I made the pattern for the keikogi by hand, but it was a bit large on her. She'd fit in it now, but she's never still long enough to put it on her. I might try to make my own hakama this summer, but I haven't decided for sure. Mata ne... -Jason

Hakama can be found rather easily and inexpensivley on eBay. I also came across this website http://www.e-budostore.com/index.htm It has just about everything you would see in Usagi, including the straw sandals (waraji). eBay by far is the best place on the internet for traditional clothing. I just ...

My best suggestion would be to just look for information on japanese temples and castles. As for traditional style japanese houses, The best book I've ever found is: Measure and construction of the Japanese house by Heino (sometimes Heinrich) Engel. It's sometimes in print but you should be able to ...

Well, both of you are right. This retailer is telling you, if you want to have your miniatures look exceptional (if you're lucky enough to have the raw talent for painting them...) you will need at least three of each color. You could also get by with just painting them in just flat colors. If you w...

Logan, Since you're out of the loop when it comes to snow, I'll fill you in. I don't know any Inuit words for snow, I know what I've shoveled. For starters, the best snow is light fluffy "powder-y" snow. When your asphalt drvieway is cold enough that the snow doesn't stick to it, you can p...

Fortune, We got ~3-5" on snow over Sat. night. It was that nasty, wet, heavy snow. The kind that bends the bristles on your snow brush so that they're ineffective. The kind that your windsheild wipers can't move. Yuck. I'm waiting for the nice powder-y stuff that packs enough for a good toboggan...

Stan, check out this Usagi!

Stan, Follow the link to see a picture of my youngest daughter in her Hallowe'en Costume. The picture was taken a split second before the ears came off. She hates things on her head. The keikogi was hand made by me (First time sewing since Jr.High school home-economics class). She's only 13 months o...

I have a vague recolection of Usagi playing go at some time. Perhaps it was just a picture, but can anyone tell me where I might find it? It would make a great present for my Go partner. Arigatoo gozaimasu. Jaa mata... -Jason

Sekigahara was the most important battle during the sengoku-jidai. Probably the most important battle of Japan could be vehemently argued by historians. Read anything by Stephen Turnbull. One of the most knowledgeable english-speaking historians. Although some would say that the battle of Nagashima ...

In UY #26 (DH) on the back are some pictures of some Dojo members who met Stan at SDCC (In '99 perhaps?) and it seems I never noticed Deanna in those pictures before. I'm about 98% sure that I went to school with her and I'm about 99.5% sure that it was Cazenovia College. At any rate if this is the ...
