Weekly Trivia contest Aug 3rd-10th

Post by Trevis Woods »

This may be to easy but honestly with this very knowledgable group I don't know that I could stump anybody for long with any of my questions but here goes...
The cover art on the upcoming Usagi Yojimbo Gallery edition volume 1 was originally unused cover art for what Usagi comic?
(Bonus if you can tell me what year it was drawn, who rejected it and why it was originally rejected.)

Mayhem had the correct answer...
"It was going to be the original cover to Albedo #2 back in late 1984. Stan rejected it himself for the published art as it better conveyed the story inside."

I should add he was the only response so either this was a really hard question or this week everybody was on vacation.
Congrats Mayhem, looking forward to the next question this week.

I actually had no clue on this one. Where did you learn the history behind this cover art?

It's mentioned in the "Art of UY" (the 2004 book) on page 39. First place I thought to look to see if it was featured, as I recognised the art from somewhere before.

Right, I'll try to come up with an interesting question for this week....!

Ohhhh... Once I heard the answer, I thought it sounded familiar. Great question; I had no idea what the answer was. Congrats to Mayhem!
