I turned in UY: Senso #3 earlier this week. Here is a step-by-step look at the making of page 2, panel 3.

This is my thumbnail. You can see I changed the POV of the last panel, the one I am using for demonstration. I just thought I should concentrate on Jei and Keiko, and their reaction to seeing Usagi.

I can be pretty vague when I am both the writer and artist. Sometimes they are just blank squares, showing the composition of panels on the page. They are much more detailed when I'm working with another artist or if the story has to be approved by a client or editor.

Light pencil sketch to rough out the forms.

The lettering is done using an Aames Lettering Guide and Rotring Art Pens sizes M and B. I use the ink adaptor and fill them up with my own ink. I use a template to pencil in the balloons.

The Koh-i-noor Art Pen is used to ink in the balloons. This is also the pen I do most of my inking with.

These pens have been discontinued, and I'm always on the lookout for more.

The borders ruled with a 1.0 technical pen.

The pencils are tightened up.

Inking done with the Koh-i-noor pen, and blacks spotted with a Pentel Brush Pen, filled with Badger Black Opaque ink (old formula).

This is the finished page, with all the details in.
