By: Stan Sakai
Cover Artist: Stan Sakai
Genre: Action/Adventure
Internationally acclaimed storyteller Stan Sakai presents another adventure from feudal Japan! The foxy thief Kitsune visits the Geishu clan in this issue, and the rabbit ronin is caught between his friendship with the charming thief and his loyalty to the Geishu clan . . . and how will Tomoe react when she meets Usagi's beautiful and flirtatious friend? It's a meeting of two fan-favorite characters, with the long-eared samurai caught in the middle! As if that weren't enough, when Kitsune's young protegee Kiyoko steals a priceless temple scroll, the man who wants it would rather kill the pair than pay for it. Can they get out of this mess before permanent damage is caused to the clan? Find out, this month in Usagi Yojimbo!
• Usagi Yojimbo was nominated for four Eisner Awards in 2005, including Best Writer/Artist for Sakai!
• Master storyteller Stan Sakai has won many industry awards over the past twenty years of Usagi, including a Parents' Choice Award, an Inkpot Award, multiple Eisner Awards, a 2004 Young Adult Library Services Association award, and the prestigious National Cartoonists Society Comic Book Division Award.
I really like Tomoe and Usagi on the cover - it seems rare that we get just two characters smiling at the audience like they do in shounen manga (ie Hikaru no Go or Rurouni Kenshin) ^^

But she is just the sweetest girl, just doing what a girl has to do to get by...
That little bit of a preview really brings up the fact that the stories in the old Fantagraphics Color Specials have finally just became a part of the ongoing continuety of the series, what with Kitsune reciting the story of "The Doors" (Color Special #2) to her audience. The interesting thing is that the story "Fox Fire" (Color Special #3) has just taken place and Tomoe has got to be a bit leary of Usagi suddenly (to her) being all friendly with another fox so soon after the events of that story.
I can't wait to read the rest of the issue.

I´m still in Spain, and don´t have access to my Usagi book map, but I think we´re looking at UY Book 22: Tomoe´s Story. The first story in that book will be Color Special #1, picking up immediately where Treasure of the Mother of Mountains ends. Then Color Special #3, followed by Color Special #2 the Doors.
