Your favorite supporting characters?

I thought it would be fun to determine the Dojo's list of favorite supporting characters in Usagi Yojimbo. Time and again, we've seen Stan take an interest in this in his letter columns, so I worked out an easy way to do it.

Everyone reply to this thread with your top five favorite supporting characters (in order). Your #1 choice will be given 5 points, #2 will be given 4 points, #3 gets 3 points, etc. When we add up the total points given to each character, we'll know where they stand in the Dojo community.

Please note: in order for this to work, you cannot have ties.

I really thought about including Spot on my list. Maybe we should do a whole seperate list for dead or long-gone characters. Spot, Noodles, and Ino would top my list...


Say, whatever happened to Spot #2? Is he running around in Mariko's home, waiting for Jotoro to return?

Nope.

But, then again, the next time we see Jotoro, he's training with Katsuichi. So I do think it's possible that Spot is at home with Mariko. It's not like Jotoro was going to bring him along for samurai training.

I'm surprised by a few of these. I expected Jei, Kitsune, Inazuma, and Katsuichi to be doing better than they are. Well, keep them coming!

Hello UY Fans,

1. Inspector Ishida (5)

I like the how his brain is more powerful than his size. He knows how to be tactful, but isn't afraid to follow the spirit of the law above the word of the law.

2. General Ikeda (4)

There is a lot of values conflict in this character - he ends up acting honorably. General to farmer to working with his enemy.

3. Katsuichi (3)

The teacher stories give us insight how Usagi developed into he is. In "present time" stories, we see how the teacher - student relationship changes and stays the same.

4. Gen (2)

Seems like a selfish guy, but you know he has a heart of gold.

5. Jotaro (1)

The son opens the door to explore what being a father means to Usagi.

(I also like the wood cutters, I like monkeys. )
