Important message for Mr Sakai Pt 2

Post by RCee »

Dear Mr. Sakai:

My short story has finally appeared in the "Chaos Theory: Tales Askew" webzine and I want to thank you for being so graceful and understanding about my little faux pas ...

... and ultimately for being the main inspiration (you and Usagi) for the story.

I still remember reading the manga titled "Grey" and how the author thanked Harlan Ellison for his story "I have no mouth ...". And if you've read Grey you have to marvel how an Ellison story gave birth to such a entertaining, brutal look at the future.

Basically, Mr. Sakai, I hope that through this medium of message boards I can convey how that rabbit samurai drawing of yours and his adventures got me off my ever-expanding waist and behind to write (and not just talk about doing it) a story I had in my head for years.

Thank you (and thanks to Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima and their awesome "Lone Wolf and Cub".)

I'm just a amateur writer with (now) 2 writing credits to my name and in no way or form do I believe I am in anybody's league but if you have the time and are curious the URL is http:// genspace.com/ctta.

I hope I don't embarrass you.

Once again, thank you for you time.

Sincerely,

R. :D

Congratulations. Good luck with your writing career--be it as an amateur or a professional.

I have a few writer friends--such as Max Allan Collins and Mark Crilley--and I'm always amazed at their talent and their discipline--especially Max who seems to have three or four new novels a year.

Thanks! I wish I could make my living off it (like them and you) but for now, I sure do like doing it ... and I guess that's the key.

Perhaps Richard Bach summed it up best when he said "A professional writer is an amateur who didn't quit."

Have a great Labor Day weekend.
