So I startd to read my Space Usagi trade yesterday and I must say I really like it. The blending of samurai and science fiction works really well and the pacing of the story moves fast, keeping me turnign the page one after another.

It reminds me of the Star Wars films, lots of action and some political excitement as well. I've only read one chapter so far, but I am hooked.

I was wondering if Usagi would ever meet his future descendant, but while I was flipping through the book checking out the art I found my answer.

Stan, do you have plans for any more Space Usagi stories? or any other stories about a Usagi descendant? I wonder, are all his realtives male samurais? Are there any female samurais in his blood line?

Usagi has a twentieth century descendant by the name of Terry Miyamoto, a female investigative reporter who was featured in Stan's unfinished story "Ten Little Critters" which ran in the APA Rawlbrazzle.

Terry Miyamoto also made a cameo appearance in the Lionheart back-up story "A Little Mobster Story" (story by Tom Stazler, art by Stan Sakai) which was published in Fantagraphics Usagi Yojimbo #23, July 1990.

Sorry, I mis-spelled the name....

RowrBrazzle is an Amateur Publishing Association magazine (or APA-zine for short) for funny-animal (sometimes known as "furry") cartoonists. An APA-zine is a limited-run publication generally meant for circulation among the contributors to that publication. Each contributor prints copies of their contribution and mails it to a designated collator, usually known as the Organizing or Official Editor ("OE"). The OE then collates the contributions together, binds them, and mails them back to each contributor. Thus, every contributor gets one copy of their contribution, along with one copy of the contributions mailed in by the other members.

I really like that Usagi Skywalker wallpaper here on the site. I use that as wallpaper for my computer at work. Was that a sketch just for fun, or part of a story line?

I like Usagi's costume in it, how he wears his sword on his back, the creature he is riding, the landscape and the robotic tokage lizard. Such a great picture.

I was just thinking, did any science fiction book or movie influence you on Space Usagi, Stan? What is your favorite sci fi book and films?

It's a shame the Space Usagi project never got made, I think it would make for a great show or movie.

If you like Stan's Space Usagi stories, you should check out his futuristic version of Nilson Groundthumper and Hermy in the story "Nilson 2199" which was published as a back-up story in Usagi Yojimbo #9 from Mirage Publishing in August 1994. Has a bit of a Moebius flavor to it.

I would enjoy having a Nilson Grounthumper & Hermy TPB, especially if it included a little bit of new material. The ending of the very first NG&H story made me laugh for about 5 straight minutes the first time I read it (I'm easily amused. Sue me). I already have all three of the UY color specials and most of the old issues of Critters that include NG&H stories, but I think that I'm lacking one or two of the stories.

If Stan is ever inspired to write and illustrate another Space Usagi story, I would enjoy that a lot too. I'd love it if it were a longer story arc sort of like the Grasscutter or Dragon Bellow Conspiracy story arcs. Maybe it could be a sort of sci-fi version of the Satomi Hakkenden story sort of like Kinji Fukasaku's 1978 movie Message from Space.

It should also include a character whose appearance is modeled on Fukasaku.

I too would love a Nilson tpb. I've never read the stories before but want to very much.

Another Space Usagi story would be great. I am almost finished reading the trade and I am really enjoying it. I love how the sci fi themes mix so well with the samurai themes. I'm thinking of lending my good friend the trade when I am finished. He isn't much of a comic reading fan but he is huge into sci fi and I think he would like it.

Chalk me up as another fan interested in owning a Nilson Groundthumper and Hermy TPB collection!
I've never had the chance to read these and it would look great right next to the Space Usagi material
on the bookshelf!

(Granted, I'll likely keep trying to track down the original stuff anyhow.)
