Tomorrow is Free Comic Book Day

Post by Jet_Jaguar »

This is just a little (possibly unnecessary) reminder that tomorrow is the day to pick up your free Clone Wars comic with a UY backup story:

My area comic shops are now gone.
So there is no Free Comics Day here, unless one is willing to travel about an hour...and I'm not going to be able to do that.
Enjoy the rest of you and post info about the kind of loot you get!

Shops here were running a one comic per person rule (that's one of a particular issue, not one in total) but I persuaded the guys to let me take three of the DH issue and three of the TMNT. So I will be running a sweepstake post for Europeans unable to get them in due course...

As for the Usagi story itself, very nice, short and sweet, bit similar to something done before but then again different. Oh and I loved Usagi's reaction to... well, you'll see. Something he's seen so many other people do before...

Went and picked up my freebie comic, and was allowed to get a second one as well. The local store had a two comic limit, whether they were differant titles or duplicates. The spare gets to go to Poland to janjedlikowski, with my apologies....

I just got back from getting my stuff. Both of the participating stores here were pretty generous with their comics. One allowed five per customer, and other one allowed ten per customer, which surprised me. I got a few copies of the Clone Wars book and one of the TMNT #1 reprint.

I liked the UY story. As usual, Tom Luth did a nice coloring job on it. I think that his coloring on the recent UY color stuff and the recent Groo issues is beautiful. The Clone Wars book is also worth picking up for the little Indiana Jones story written by Mark Evanier.

@Mayhem: Oh, please, if you'd be so kind...

My comic shop does not participate (since the free comics are not free for them), so I'd very much like to get one of your extra UY free comics; just PM me with the details and I'll reimburse you.

Thank you in advance for your concern.
Greetings from overseas

As I found out when I spoke to the guys in the place I visited, they were not free for them either; it cost them I believe 30p per comic to ship them in. It's only completely free in the US afaik to retailers. So the shops here are hoping that the giveaway might increase their business a little...

Regarding what I'll be doing with my spares, I'm currently trying to source a couple more copies of the DH issue. I'll post here for people to say "yes, consider me" in due course when I know how many I'll have.

I just returned from the Comics Factory. They were pretty generous, allowing 10 comics (more or less) per person whether they bought anything or not. I got what I wanted--John Stanley's Nancy.

Also signing were Tone Rodriguez, Mark DeSantos, and Duncan Rouleau. I left before Jaime Hernandez arrived.

I was surprised at the line to get into the store. I was there soon after opening, and it was an hour wait to get inside. By the time I left, however, it was about 20 minutes. I had been seeing mentions of FCBD on the news, so that publicity helped get people into the shops.

Hello Ya'll,

At our store, they had Bill Morrison (The Simpsons/Futurama) signing. He did a fantastic "Simpsonsized" self-portrait in my sketchbook, signed the free comic and "Let Your Geek Flag Fly!" Simpson's poster. I asked him what he has coming up and he is doing a sci-fi comic with Jane Wiedlin of the Go Go's. Funny story on how they met and decided to work on it together. He said Jane is a very good writer. That was great.

I also picked up a copy of Mouse Guard Fall 1152 Black and White Edition with a nice 20% discount. #451 of 1000. I know, I could probably get it cheaper on the internet but I want to support my local business, especially in these economic times.

I only got one of each of the free comics. Nice selection.

It was a great free comic book day event.

Peace, maka

I've known Bill for years. He's a good guy. He invited me to do the pin-up for the Simpsons/Futurama hardcover that I just turned in.
He's very versatile. Besides the Simpsons, he also did the poster for Disney's Little Mermaid awhile back. He recently did the official painting for the Boy Scouts centennial anniversary.

Went to Chapel Hill Comics for the day. Great event. No TMNT #1 reprint though; bummer. Enjoying the Dark Horse offering very much Stan. You got a lot into a short space! I think overall, a great spread, and will take my kids each year. though I may need a straight jacket for my youngest, he about took out an 'Obama head' piggy bank they had in there. There was no apparent limit to how many we could snag. I got about 11 of the offerings.

I picked up my free comics today. Im a great customer at my local store he let me grab one of each issue that I wanted. I loved the little Usagi story. I got the TMNT reprint, however he didnt order any Atomic Robo issues so I hope they reprint it in the trades. (BTW, Atomic Robo is awesome!)

On Wednesday Im going to ask if I can buy some of the extra copies of the Darkhorse Free Comic Book Day comic (if he has any left) to offer up to some Usagi fans here.
