Quite the subject line I know. When I saw this auction (SAMURAI Old documents : Tadakatsu Sakai : Edo period) and saw the Sakai name I couldn't resist. Maybe Stan could translate some for us (I'm assuming he can, not 100% sure). A really cool item for sure!!

It looks like this Sakai spells his name differently than my family.
My mother is descended from samurai, so I do have samurai blood in me. My father's side is peasant. The story is that my maternal grandfather was against them getting married because of the difference in social classes, and not because my mother was a Japanese national and my father was an American in Japan with the occupation forces after WW2.
