Contest Time!

Post by Stan Sakai »

The Baltimore Comic-con is making Usagi the theme of their hardcover art book this year. We haven't had a contest for awhile, so this is the perfect opportunity.

I've already gotten someone lined up to write the introduction for the next Usagi collection--UY Book 28: Red Scorpion. The first person to correctly post the person's name on this thread will get a copy of the Baltimore book, with a choice of either the regular or variant edition.

I will post a clue to the person's identity each day, times to vary. Each Dojo member can have two guesses. Strategy comes into play here. Should you use one guess hoping you will be correct, and save the other for when you are sure? Should you use both to make quick guesses? Should you wait with both until you're kind of sure who it is?

The first clue is: This person is a male.

Both great guesses, but incorrect. Chris was really in the news this year with the Team Cul de Sac book which was a fundraiser for the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. He was nominated for an Eisner, and won the Clampett Humanitarian Award at San Diego. Frank, of course, is a friend and very prominent in our field winning about every award for his outstanding work.

Can you mention any of the artists contributing to this book?

No, I can't, because I don't know myself. David Petersen did say that he had wanted to do an Usagi in armor on horseback, but may decide against it after seeing that I did a similar drawing for the cover.

Another excellent guess, seeing as how Koike-sensei acted as consultant for our recent 47 Ronin mini-series. Unfortunately, no. I'm hoping that Mike will persuade him to write an intro to the collected 47 Ronin book, to be released early 2014.

Both Sergio and Stan Lee have already written introductions for me.

Mike Richardson is a good guess, but not this time.
