Ladies and gentlemen, the great Al Jaffee. Al has been one of "MAD Magazine's" artists for many decades, most well known for his Fold-In feature. Al sends CAPS this original ink and watercolor piece for the fundraiser for Sharon & Stan Sakai. Many of Al's fans may recognize it since this is what the 92 year old artist sends as a signed print to fans who ask for an autograph. Wouldn't having the original be much nicer?

Not everything donated to the CAPS fundraiser for Stan Sakai is "Usagi Yojimbo" related. Mike Allred was kind enough to donate this original art drawn for a published variant cover to "Detective Comics" #27. How do you like THAT for a happy new year?! And when you have a chance, check out Mike's website at http://www.aaapop.com/

This is a jam piece that animation wonder twins Tony & Tom Bancroft created for CAPS' Stan Sakai art auction fundraiser to aid in paying medical bills from Stan's wife's illness. Tony drew the left side, Tom did the right side, and Tony sketched Stan's Usagi Yojimbo character while Tom inked and colored him. This great piece of Usagi is from cartoonist/illustrator Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque.
I got to see this original last week when I dropped off my donations for the CAPS last week at Tone's studio. Tone was so nice and allowed me to see some of the donations they that had come in. There are a ton of amazing pieces. Tone also showed my kids his work for Bartman and the other artist working in the studio showed them his Little Pony story he was working on. Cheryl even enjoyed talking with Tone's girlfriend while I was taking in all the art. Such caring people. Fans have also been very generous with paypal and direct checks. Keep them coming folks. Every little bit helps.

I just received from Vince Musacchia his terrific piece (and the rough sketch he worked from) for the upcoming Sakai auction! Who wouldn't love to own this appealingly unlikely team-up? What do you think, Stan Sakai, Tone Rodriguez and Bill Morrison? Thanks so much, Vince!

This mid 90s pin-up drawing of the X-Men's Storm by Gary Frank comes to CAPS from the personal collection of Bongo Comics' Creative Director Nathan Kane. Thanks to Nathan, Storm can soar into YOUR collection when CAPS' auction to help Sharon & Stan Sakai gets underway in the coming months.
It is wonderful to see the amount of support coming in to help Sharon and Stan. I imagine it feels good knowing that so many people want to help and care about their family. Even as a fan I am touched by people's generousity, kindness, and love. Thanks everyone! Peace, maka

Saw a drawing this morning that my friend Gaz did of Space Usagi for a benefit for Stan Sakai... and realized I would be a dummy if I didn't contribute. No matter what the cause (Stan's wife is terribly sick) I should jump at the chance to help one of my favorite cartoonists. So here is my contribution, that I will mail out next week.
