A well deserved award, indeed!

Here, you can see Sensei sketching a 47 Ronin book for a fan named Steve, whomever that is.
(Though there are rumors that he might be a member of this forum.)

A few more photos tomorrow.

Were the sketches of 47 Ronin characters, or Usagi characters?

Depends on the books. :)
Usagi characters for Usagi books, Ronin characters for 47 Ronin.

i used to play world of warcraft and they had a player mount that is basically a 3d version of that art. of course Stan's pic predated the game version by more than a decade. I wonder if the game designers were inspired by the art.

Ok, so i know I said " a few more photos tomorrow" two weeks ago, but I've been a bit lazy ( ), so let's say "tomorrow" was a figure of speech.
Thank you very much to Mr Sakai who was kind enough to accept to take some pictures with me. It was my second encounter with him, following a first encounter in France a few years ago. For those who have not met him yet, I can say this: he is extremely kind, probably the kindest artist I've met, so do not hesitate to go greet him at a convention he's attending.

About Lucca: This was my second time at the festival, I already went there last year. I know it will be hard to believe, but I thought it was actually less crowded this year than last year. This year, I could walk in the street without being in direct physical contact with people around me. I don't know if it was really a lower attendance, or if the crowd was more spread across the city, but it was a relief.
I unfortunately realized I didn't take any picture of the crowd this year, but here are some pictures I took last year as reference (try to imagine the whole city center like this over a radius of 1 km, and you get a pretty good idea of how it was):

You can find below a selection of this year pictures, with Stan Sakai, and some more pics (including cosplays) on a photobucket album:

Great photos, thanks for sharing them.

I hope any family and friends you have in France have survived the recent events in Paris!

Thank you. Fortunately for me, all my relatives and friends in Paris are safe.
But I know several people who lost friends that night.
I've lived in Paris for 7 years, and it was a strange feeling to see the pictures of the terrorist attacks in familiar places and streets I used to bike through every day back when I was living there...
What happened is sickening.
