General discussion about Usagi Yojimbo, the comics, the stories, the characters, collectibles, TV appearances, Stan Sakai, Space Usagi, Nilson & Hermy, and all other related topics.
I had never heard of "UY" until about 2 weeks ago. A co-worker of mine noticed that I had a small "Samurai Jack" figure on my desk, next
to my PC. "Tim, there is a comic book series that you might find interesting..." he told me. So, I made a trip to the local comic book store later and purchased two "UY" comic books. I started with #84 and #69 for no other reason that I had to start somewhere. More than likely, I will be buying the book compliations in the future. Hey, I have 20+ years of "UY" to catch up on.
Welcome to the Dojo, and more importantly, welcome to Usagi Yojimbo!
I have to tell you that you have twenty plus years worth of great stories to enjoy! From the one page "gag" stories to the multi-issue "epic" story-lines, Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo is always a real pleasure to read and experience.
If you like stories of samurai era Japan, you might also enjoy the works of Kazou Koike and Goseki Kojima, creators of the "Lone Wolf and Cub" and "Samurai Executioner" series.
I am new to the Dojo Boards as well, but have been reading Usagi for 5-6 years. A word of warning Twootton, once you start buying Usagi(I would suggest trades, as some issues are too hard and expense to get) you will not be able to stop. The stories and art are just too well done.
Things need not have happened to be true. Stories and dreams are what will endure when mere facts are dust and forgotten.
I'm a fairly new member as well, but I figured I'd extend a warmest welcome to you!
I discovered Usagi last summer while on vacation in British Columbia, Canada. I was looking for something to read on the plane trip home as its a looong one and I picked up TPB book 5 & 6.
Once I got back home I immediately began ordering in all the other trades and snatching them up where ever I could.
I completely agree with Inukai79, once you start buying Usagi you won't be able to stop! Its an addiction!! Theres lots of Usagi out there to keep you interested & entertained!
welcome, welcome, im pretty new as well, i probably got into usagi about 2 months ago and in that short time i've collected all of volume 1,2, every other special except albedo 2 and i have about 50 issues of volume 3 left to go!!! so dont give up hope, it isn't that hard to get 20 years worth of comics or maybe im disgustingly lucky??

Welcome. I may not know your taste in movies but, if you come to like Samurai epics and other stories. I hope that you will give movies such as Yojimbo, Seven Samurai, Ran and the old Zato-Ichi series a try. AS you go along you'll catch onto to the nods towards these fine classics within the pages of Usagi Yojimbo.
