Very similar with me Todd. It was a pin-up (the same one I believe - I did a drawing of Usagi from that pin-up and someone identified where it was from http://usagiyojimbo.com/forum/viewtopic ... 7821#27821) that got me checking it out too. Though I didn't really get heavily into it until 2003.Todd Shogun wrote:I was a TMNT fan before reading Usagi. Back in 1986 the TMNT blazed a trail for many other black-and-white comics during what is known as the B&W Boom. I think when I saw the Usagi/TMNT pin-up in Donatello #1 I had to find out what was going on with this rabbit. And the rest is history.
Who else discovered Usagi Yojimbo through the TMNT?

before I was a freshman in high school (89), my family hosted an exchange student from Japan. We were browsing through the local comic shop and he bought a Usagi comic, I was mostly into Spider-man and Captain America. But, after reading that one (I may still have it buried away somewhere), I would always ask for UY. Now, the local shop carries UY just for me!
