Stan Sakai wrote:Great drawings, especially the one by Rod.
I've known Art Baltazar for years, but never got an Usagi drawing from him. He did do a nice caricature of me, though.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed them!
I love the one by Rod as well. I think he really captured the action well.
Art is a great guy...I'm surprised that you don't already have a Usagi drawing by him. He seemed to really get into it when I asked him to draw Usagi for me. He was having a lot of fun, but it seems like he has a lot of fun no matter what he's drawing
Mike Mignola really liked that Hellboy piece. We may be trading pin-ups sometime. That Gen drawing was for John H. He has a collection of Usagi characters dancing Obon.
Ha, that Hellboy piece is really cool, clad in samurai armour...
And, even without knowing I would have seen that Sensei did it; the dragonfly is a giweaway...
Is there a special reason why Hellboy has three fingers on his right hand and four on his left?
Greetings from overseas

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie to the forum, but a long time Usagi fan.
My boyfriend, Brandon, and I are the two people with our heads together in the back and to the right of Stan in the linked photo.
Sorry for popping in and leaving so suddenly without properly introducing ourselves. Thanks for having the gathering, it was nice to meet such dedicated Stan fans.
I also felt so bad for Stan having to be directly across from Sony's Sing Star demo booth. What a pro he must be to have toughed out the terrible singing all weekend.

With all the offers from various people to help out us Dojo members unable to attend the big con in San diego, I decided to try and squeezed in a last minute request for a couple of sketches.
Since my nephew Nick's birthday was in July, and he is a big fan of Usagi Yojimbo, I thought it would be cool to get him a sketch for his 14th birthday.....
And, of course, I had to try and get a sketch for myself as well....
A really big thank you to Stan for the great sketches.
And thanks also to Cynlee for all the assistance at the convention. I hope you were not too busy getting sketches and other stuff for everybody and had a chance to enjoy yourself while there.

Welcome to the UY Dojo, Merry Rogue (and Brandon), both new and long-time fans of Stan Sakai and Usagi Yojimo are always welcome here.....
Pretty cool that you had a chance to get into the Dojo group photo while at the SDCC, even before venturing onto the Dojo web forum.

I know, we're so terrible. I'd heard about the gathering over e-mail and wanted to meet other fans, but we're also so horribly shy.

I LOVE the fact that there is a calculator just to the right of Stan in that one picture on this page.
I have to use a calculator for anything more than adding one digit numbers. And it has to be a calculator with big number pads so I can see them.
Notice the start of our bear collection in the background?
Oh god tell me about it! I'm the same way.
It's sure poignant to see all the pictures and new acquisitions from SDCC. I wish I could have been there just for half an hour or so to visit Stan and meet up with some of you I haven't yet. .... sigh.
