Just got an email that an Usagi-Kitsune commission I asked for awhile back has been completed. The subjects are especially appropriate in light of the latest issue.
Since a jpeg came with the email I already have a picture up on my page even though I don't have the actual piece in my possession. The artist is an up and comer but those of you who appreciate fanart may recognize the style....

The artist did a fantastic job, as always, on capturing the personalities of the characters while maintaining the originality and distinct style by which the artist has become so well known around the dojo.Colin Solan wrote:The artist is an up and comer but those of you who appreciate fanart may recognize the style....

Another one to add to my "wish I owned it instead of you" list!
Congradulations!
Abayo.....

I picked some really nice freebie head sketches from NYCC this past weekend.
The first I got was from Rob Liefeld. I was a huge fan of Rob's runs on New Mutants and X-Force growing up and really excited to meet him. While he was charging out of my price range for full figure commissions, Rob also did free head sketches during signing sessions for the Atomic Comics booth each day of the show so I made sure i was first in line. He really liked the idea of the Usagi theme and wanted to show him all angry.

The next was done by Cameron Stewart (Catwoman, The Other Side). He was a little more hesitant and ultimately kind of disappointed with the final result because he thought Usagi looks too much like a rat. But I disagreed and so did Jason Aaron, the writer of The Other Side and Scalped. He thought it was totally cool and said he's a huge fan of the series.

This last one was done by Whilce Portacio (Wetworks, Batman Confidential). Whilce was excited about doing something new and out of the box. I like his rendition of Usagi becuase it came out very different from his usual style.

Thanks morna-san!! The current picture in my avatar was drawn by Scott Morse (Soulwind, The Barefoot Serpent)
*edit* I've recently changed my avatar to a sketch drawn by the late, great Mike Wieringo (Tellos)...
