Me too.Usagi-Yojimbo wrote:Just ordered my copy of Saga 2 in hardcover! Yay!
I missed the first one in HC, though. Guess it serves me right for being such a lazy guy and taking so long.

These Saga hardcovers are really nice. My volume 1 didn't come shrink wrapped like volume 2. Maybe that's new.
Anyway, I wonder if these are going to affect the collectibility or desire for the individual hardcovers? Of course I'll still buy both.

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
If my memory is correct: There were 900 copies of HC Volume 1. There are 1,500 of HC Volume 2. Volume 1 will be more collectable due to supply.Gaffey wrote:These Saga hardcovers are really nice. My volume 1 didn't come shrink wrapped like volume 2. Maybe that's new.

Shrinkwrapped might improve the resale (never opened). But what is to prevent some unscrupulous seller from re-shrinkwrapping it and lying about it never being opened?
My thought, I don't think Usagi reprints will rise very much in value. If that is one's goal, one is better off with silver age or before comics in high grades. But if you love Usagi and enjoy having something special that the average comic reader doesn't own, these limited edition reprints are nice. Nicer paper, the cover painting is full size, limited number, signed by Stan, etc.
Peace, maka

I meant will people still be interested in the old hardcovers like Grasscutter, Seasons, Shades of Death, etc. when they can just buy them in the larger format now.Maka wrote:If my memory is correct: There were 900 copies of HC Volume 1. Dear Readers,
Hopefully the market is deep enough for all versions.
"There were 900 copies of HC Volume 1. There are 1,500 of HC Volume 2. "
Maka, i wonder if they will reprint 600 copies of HC Volume 1 to balance out the universe?
Best wishes to all!

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
Just received my Usagi Saga vol 2 hardcover.
It's really a beautiful book.
#1351/1500
And if someone knows how to get my hands on a Volume 1 in HC (at a *reasonnable* price, not like the ones at 600$ on amazon), I am open to sugestions.

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
In my opinion, this will not happen. I also think demand for the original limited edition books will continue to exceed supply. They are more rare and harder to buy than the new saga editions.go wrote: Maka, i wonder if they will reprint 600 copies of HC Volume 1 to balance out the universe?

Re: The Usagi Yojimbo Saga
Does anyone know if the earlier trade paperbacks will no longer be reprinted because of the Sagas?

Fantagraphics plans to print both the individual trades as well as their Special Edition trades.pleiades3 wrote:Does anyone know if the earlier trade paperbacks will no longer be reprinted because of the Sagas?
Dark Horse will discontinue reprinting the individual trades, at least for a while, in favor of the omnibus editions. They may bring them back if the marketplace warrants it.
