Lost episodes...

Are there issues that have been left out of the Graphic novel series? If so, does anyone ever intend to collect them all in a graphic novel? Perhaps you could call it "Usagi Yojimbo: The Lost Episodes"!
If not, I really need to know so I can start buying like crazy, cause right now, I'm only collecting the Graphic Novels. Also, if anyone knows of a list online or something, it would be really helpful to know which episodes have been left out. Anyway, I still think the "Lost Episodes" Graphic novel is a good idea. But then, I like graphic novels.

The graphic novels are very comprehensive. Typically went a UY story appears outside of the UY issues, it is often collected into the graphic novels, sometimes modified to fit the current continuity. If there are any "lost episodes" out there (possibly some shorts appearing in various DH publications), they'll definitely be picked up by the GNs at some point. There are a few exceptions, however, and these seem to have been cut out of the normal collections. The only significant ones I can think of right now are the UY Color Specials #1-4, which I don't believe have been reprinted. Stan was going to save those for a color GN in the future. Those along with the watercolor stories (UY Book 4 and the Trilogy Tour book) should be collected together at some point. There may not be enough pages out there to warrant a full GN however...

I have also collected the graphic novels--paperback versions only. In addition to what Todd noted in his post, there's also the Dark Horse Maverick 2001 story: "Usagi and the Kami of the Pond" and the Usagi appearance in Dan Brereton's Nocturnals: Troll Bridge. I'd also highly recommend looking for the Art of Usagi 1 & 2, and the Usagi RPG book. (There's a second RPG book called Monsters, as well, but I haven't got that myself). Ebay's been a good place for me to find this stuff. Good luck!

uncollected stories

I believe most if not all of the Usagi cross-over stories (i.e. Usagi's Ark, The Treaty, Turtle Soup and Rabbit Stew, etc.) have not been collected in the trade paperbacks. Also, Usagi's cameo appearences in misc. comics from Fragments West (i.e. Penguin and Pencilguin, Frank the Unicorn, etc.) have not been collected either... Maybe someday, these bits and pieces will get collected together in their own little volume...

Oh. Okies. I'm glad it seems that all the main Usagi stories are collected in gn format. It's very hard to find people willing to part with their issues, and I've already bought out all the local stores (HEEHEEHEE! I'm kind of evil, that way, aren't I? A bit greedy, but what can I say? I LOVE Usagi!). This puts my heart at ease. And I do hope that those issues that everyone mentioned will be picked up in graphic novel format. Thank's everyone for the info!

I believe that Stan's crossover stories with the TMNT were reprinted in the trade paperbacks. Turtle Soup and Rabbit Stew appears in Book 3. I'm not sure where The Treaty was reprinted.. perhaps it wasn't after all (potential for the next book maybe?). It seems to me the stories that feature Usagi that are 100% drawn by Stan are collected, while non-Usagi or partially-drawn-by-Stan stories (i.e. Usagi's Ark) are not. Stan?

Cross over stories not part of the Usagi continuity will not be reprinted in the trades. These would include cross overs with Space Ark, Patrick Rabbit, and Nocturnals. The Ninja Turtles are an exception as they appeared in a crucial story that (re)introduced Chizu. Also, the good people at Mirage Studios who own the Turtles are pretty cool about letting me reprint those stories.

The Treaty was printed somewhere. Maybe it just appeared in a hard cover, though.

Trust me... it did take quite a while for me to get a collection of EVERY issue now. Much eBay ranting, trading, selling, calling places that did comics both here and in the US... but I got there eventually! And enough bags to go round to have them individually protected :P

I should have checked the UY Concordance about this. Looks like The Treaty was reprinted in the hardcover version of UY Book 6. Every UY story ever published is listed in the Concordance at http://usagiyojimbo.com/uyconc.html so check it out for reprints and such. All in all, there are probably no stories which have not or will not be reprinted. There have been some pages of stories which were completely re-drawn (and will consequently never be re-printed) to align them with connecting stories, but there are maybe only a handful or so of these.

Hey. What about the Usagi Yojimbo Comics under Mirage Studios? Are they in any of the graphic novels?

There is one UY story which you can't get anymore seems to be "The Guardian" which I found in "1998 Trilogy Tour II". It was reprinted in HC 4 but in none of the TPBs.

It's a short story with no relevance to the UY story line but it contains the woodcutters and another run-in of Usagi and ghosts.
