Question for Sensei Stan: Usagi's Feet

Post by Anjin-san »

Sensei,

I was curious about an aspect of Usagi's character design. I've noticed that Usagi has anthropoid-style feet instead of the typical Bugs-Bunny-style feet usually given to cartoon rabbits.

Was this a conscious choice in Usagi's design ? If so, what was the motivation behind this choice ?

Gassho,

It was not a conscious choice. Some of the very early sketches may have had him with big feet, but as the character design was refined, the feet may have gotten smaller. Besides, they fit better in those waraji sandals.

Thank you for the quick reply. The sandals were the first thing that came to mind: How would Usagi get Bugs-Bunny-feet into a pair of those sandals ? And, I'm sure they don't make tabi socks that big either. :)
