Deaf fan of Usagi

When the long-eared samurai from 17th century first appeared in Critters in 1984, I attractively amassed USAGI collection. I still do that. :)
Gennuinely, Usagi seems mental, and spirtual in his mind and heart as a warrior in his jounery. Even he meets the old and new friends plus foes. In addition, I watch him developing more improve, and enjoy seeing his bond with his son Joroto. I'm little disappointment he doesn't reveal him that he is his real father :( before I learn Joroto already knows his real father.
I basically increase to learn about Japanese Culture, history and tradition. It is fascinating to me. Thank to Stan Sakai, because I can see his remarkable storytelling with Usagi and other anthropomorphic characters.
I want to question him about them, but some comments alreadly answer the questions from fans'questions. Some of comments make goosebumps. Even I fascinate Usagi fan arts.
I'm deaf. I already met Stan Sakai before. It happeneded in San Diego comic convention that I attened there two times. I hope he remembers me. I still have his autogrpah with the skethces of Usagi :D
Before I close the comments, I have some questions for him.

1)Are some neko ninja still loyal to Chizu no matter she isn't longer the Kashira (Chief)?

2) What Lord Noriyuki look when he is older? :?: I know he is about 11 or 12 years old.

3) What happened to Lord Noriyuki's parents? I may miss part of the story.

4) Can we see other humans after Lord Hikiji?

I need to stop...I have many new questions for you later.

Hello Jelly3,

Just wanted to give you a quick welcome to the Dojo, and congradulations on getting to meet Stan in person, not just once, but twice! I am sure I'm not the only Dojo member who is envious of you...

Great set of questions, by the way, and I am especially looking forward to Stan's answer to the first one (hopefully, it isn't a plot spoiler)

Abayo.....

In answer to question 3, some of it is explained in the Color Special 1, so grab that :)

Welcome back Jelly. I'm glad you got your login all figured out. Sorry about that. I'm beginning to think the board inactivates users who don't post for awhile...but I could be mistaken!

I'll take a stab at some of your questions:

1) Most likely. Maybe we'll get to find out more in #101 when Chizu makes her comeback!

2) Take a look at UY Color Special #1 "Tomoe's Story" to see what Lord Noriyuki's father, Lord Mataichi, looks like. That's probably a good indication of what he'll end up looking like eventually.

3) See above. I'm not sure the fate of Lady Etsuko was ever explained, but the synopsis for Tomoe's Story is here http://www.usagiyojimbo.com/casl/storie ... story.html :)

4) No. Actually Stan regrets making Hikiji a human. Probably the only other human we'll ever likely see besides the Dark Lord, is Groo...and even that is a stretch!

Hi Jelly,

In my high school and college days, I did volunteer work at the Hawaii School for the Deaf and Blind--mainly working with the deaf with social event such as ball games, outings, and even dances. I've forgotten almost all my American Sign Language through years of non-use. My daughter is starting to pick it up though, as her school offers a class and some of her friends are taking it.

On to your questions:

1. There certainly are Chizu loyalists out there. Remember Kimi from "Escape"? She'll be back eventually.

2. As Todd said, look at Tomoe's Story, which will be reprinted in UY Book 22.

3. I never dealt with the death of Noriyuki's mother. Come to think of it, I never dealt with Usagi's mother either. I don't even know if she's still alive or not. Probably not.

4. Probably not.

Stan, it would be great to have some more stories of Usagi's childhood. Then you could bring Usagi's mother into it :D

I'm sure others will agree, I'd love to see what went on in Usagi's village and the adventures he had before he want off to train as Samurai.

I'd also love to see more of Mariko and Kenichi as kids :D

The Death of Noriyuki's mother would make a great story!

Hey Jelly...

y'know, i've always been curious about what did happen to Noriyuki's parents....domo arigato for bringing that up.

You are so lucky to meet Sakai-sensei. He's a great manga-ka and one of my biggest influences. :D (are you reading this, Sakai-sensei?)
