Just curious as to who of the posters on here is going to be at the con. I live in San Diego, so I'll obviously be there. Todd, aren't you from around here? I thought I remembered reading that somewhere. If anyone from San Diego is going to be there, introduce yourself to me, I'd love to meet some people from around here with an Usagi interest. Anyone from out of town need some help on the layout of the city, and the best ways to get around, email me at
workingclasspro@hotmail.com or just reply here. Can't wait to meet everyone at the con.

Actually, I've been meaning to send out the notice on the official UYD Event/Gathering at this year's SDCC. If you check out the UYD's Comic Con page, you can see that we consistently meet up at the SDCC annually. The gathering typically takes place over at Stan's Booth on Saturday. It's open to all UYD members of course, so we'd be honored if you could make it. More details to follow! And keep your eye out for UY #67. Last year's SDCC Event photos will be printed on the back cover. Last year we hung out with our good buddy Eric from Tide-Mark. He'll be there again with the 2004 UY Calendar!

So Todd, what does the dojo usually do at the con? Just kinda hang out and be the dojo? Cause I'm pretty sure a theater in San Diego is showing a bunch of Kurosawa films (roshomon, high and low, hidden fortress, yojimbo and 7 samurai to be exact) and maybe that would be a cool thing for some of the fans to see, those who havent seen a Kurosawa film before. Just a thought.

Hey Dangelo, are you going to have copies of your Lord Takeyama book with you at the con, or any of your other work? I really liked what I saw with the Lord Takeyama art, and I'd really like to get a copy, so hopefully you will have it at the con, right?

Of course. I will be happy to.
If our booth doesn't come ou t this year (hope not)
Some of our friends, like Khepri.com or other retailers will.
But be cool, you will have one. Maybe STAN can help us all...

Everyone is welcome to join the annual "meeting" at Stan's booth. In fact, the more the merrier. In the past we've basically just met up at Stan's booth, shot a few pix, talked, and that was pretty much it. At the UY 15-year Anniversary the UYD also met up at the UY Panel. I'd definitely be interested in setting up a 2nd Dojo gathering at the con, but Stan is usually too busy to attend after hours. A panel would be great but we may have to wait until next year when UY turns 20. A few years ago at Fanime Con up in San Jose/Santa Clara (which isn't nearly as busy). The UYD and Stan all went out to House of Genji for some Japanese. It was probably the best UYD event ever. Unfortunately the SDCC is not as condusive to such events, but if anyone is interested in a Japanese dinner party thing and some Chambara movies at night, let me know. That actually sounds pretty cool. If we get enough takers, it will probably happen.

Barring Hawaiian Airlines going out of existence before SDCC (which is a possibility), I will be there. A casual movie and/or dinner gathering sounds cool. BTW, any plans to print up some more UYD T-Shirts, Todd?

I've always wanted to do some more t-shirts, but lacked the time to coordinate it all. Maybe next year for UY's 20th. I should be sending out an official SDCC email here soon. Watch for it.

Hey, I just got the news that we will not have a booth, but KHEPRI COMICS will hold our positions up there, with Books, Special SD editions and some LORD TAKEYAMA "litho". Hope you guys can visit us...

Dangelo, I'd suggest telling us alot about whatever booth your stuff is going to be at. If you've ever been to comic con, you know how insane it is. Especially last year with almost 100,000 people there. So if you know what the booth your stuff will be at is going to look like, what products they will be selling, the exact name on the banner, or any kind of information you could give us about the people who will have your book. I really liked what I saw in the Lord Takeyama book and would love to get a copy, and since it seems like some people on the dojoboard have tried to find it to order but couldn't, the con might be the only chance to get one.

Let me try this again, something went wrong with my first attempt to post last night. New to the boards, yes. New to Usagi, NO!
I am going to be at San Diego Con again this year! Todd Shogun and some others know me, some by my name of Kim, some by the nickname I've used online since '96 of Leonardo. Some for the "usagi" calligraphy I did some years back at a SDC.

I am looking forward to meeting up with UYD members again, and just surfed into this forum the other night when seeking info on SDC. (Nice job everyone's done here!)
I vote that if possible, we do try to do something in addition to meeting at Stan's booth. SDC can be hard with so much going on, and even though Stan can't join us for a get together outside the con, that's no reason we fans couldn't! That dinner at Fanime Todd Shogun mentioned was great fun, it'd be great to try it in San Diego.
