I know alot of Dojo members are in San Diego this week, but was wondering if anyone had a chance to read the latest issue. Once again Sensei has come through with another excellent Usagi story. Keep up the great work, Stan!

Yup.

My review will be up soon.

Lines of the month...

Stray Dog: Why don't you wear your swords like a normal person!?
Gen: I like to carry my blade!

I'm still laughin'.

:D

Read my issue the evening I got back to the hotel... hopefully the poor snitch isn't too injured at the end ;)

That Snitch reminded me of a lot of sitcom characters who scheme and inevitably end up having it blow up in their face. I had a feeling it would end badly for him.

Wanted to know what everyone thought of the burning "Usagi Yojimbo" title this issue. Personally, I have never been a big fan of stuff that obviously looks like it was computer generated. I know that all issues of Usagi use computers for some of the graphics, but for some reason this particular one looks really out of place to me.

hi folkss!! i just have read my UY 113 ( thank you sensei!!! :D) and its really funny !! how about the tricker gets triked..XD , the back cover its terrific!! and abot the cover desing for me in particular its all righ because if it be like the normal graphic it would hide the character on the house ( seriously i dont know whats his name..??) or they could use the graphic on the Usagiyojimbo 101 you know the small graphic of UY who was down to the price graphic.. :D

Abayo,
Marchino

(sorry for me english)

Spoilers:

When Gen came through the door without the snitch in arm, I thought it was an art mistake. (I should have known better by now.) But, no, Gen just didn't think to the throw the weasel in ahead of him. And sure enough he didn't stick around after they were yelling about how they got fooled again and would kill him. Who would?

I like this cover more and more.

As for the title logo in general, I don't think Stan or Tom put it on there themselves monthly in the first place, so in a sense it is computer generated every time (they can confirm, or not if they want to preserve the mystery).

Even if this one wasn't hand drawn and painted, it looks like it would have taken a little while to do the colors. But I'm not familiar with digital coloring, so I don't know.

I believe the back cover art is digitally colored nearly every time as well.

Yeah, I have no problem at all with using computer graphics and I fully understand the title logo is done every month that way. But for some reason this particular one just doesn't look "right" to me. I don't know what it is. It just seems like it was "forced". I really don't know how to explain it.

But I am in no way complaining. Another excellent Usagi story.

Are issues 100-104 in a book yet? I just got 103 as my first comic and it ended in a cliff hanger, I was wonder if I could save some cash just getting one of the books instead of buying the comics around it.

I believe Stan is planning to include #100 in the next collection... I hope it will be, although at the back perhaps (to avoid disturbing continuity given its the celebration issue). Tomoe's Story goes up to issue #93, so I'm not sure where the cut off point for the next book may be. Probably #102 as that was the end of a certain story...

Either way, it'll be a fair while before the next book is out as Tomoe's Story has only just released.

An excerpt from the review at my blog to try to keep the thread fairly SPOILER free:

"Snitch" can be described as a very fun stand alone story that anyone could pick up and enjoy.
Basically we've got this little rascal, who loves money, scheming to make a fortune by
holding up a local criminal that's hard on his luck with promises that he'll help him and his situation.
Meanwhile, he's attracting bounty hunters in town (Usagi reluctantly joining Gen in the endeavor
as they're running low on funds) and pitting them against one another as he plays informant to all sides...for a price.

It's a nice little racket the Snitch has going until...

(More at the blog for those interested in SPOILERS for the issue)

I loved the light-hearted feel of the story, but at the same time there was some meat to it that really made for a satisfying read. Fun stuff!
