Has anyone considered creating a UY Wiki?
A few days ago, a was thinking at a Usagi Yojimbo Wiki page might be a useful resource for fans. Of course, the Usagi Yojimbo Dojo has a lot of useful information, but I think that a UY Wiki page that fans could edit and update might be a nice complement to the UY Dojo (or perhaps it could become a component of the UY Dojo). There's some UY information on Wikipedia, but it could be organized a little bit better, and I've come across a few omissions and pieces of incorrect information (I've worked on the main UY page and a couple of character pages a little bit).
For an example of what a UY Wiki could be like, have a look at the Groopedia (which, admittedly, could use a little more work. Some ugly barbarian filled some pages so full of garbage that they crashed my browser!):

The Groopedia is a perfect example of why I don't think a seperate wiki would work very well, unless it was set up with some very serious spam blocking safe-guards.
I spent several weeks doing a daily spam cleaning on the Groopedia late last year or early this year, and I finally gave up because it was a never ending job.
I suggest working on and expanding the articles on the main wikipedia where there is already some decent control over spam and vandalism.

Do you have any idea why the Groopedia has been such a spam magnet? Does some sick, twisted person out there just really really hate Groo? Well, maybe Groo just has the same effect on Wiki pages as he does on ships.
I briefly attempted cleaning up the Groopedia a little bit, but then I realized that there's probably a reason why someone else hasn't already done it.

I went through every page of the site and edited out every bit of spam, then went back on a daily basis and removed the half dozen -dozen new spams which kept getting added.
I think the site is on some lind of list which is hit automatically by a spam-posting robot rather than maliceously done by a specific individual. The fact that there is no longer an administrator to the Groo wiki site who can block unwanted contributions and additions is the main problem, that and the fact that none of the features available for blocking spammers and bots have been initiated or installed.
There is an old abandoned Groo web-site with a forum which is similarly aflicted. The site has had no new update in years, but the forum has hundreds if not thousands of spam messages which have been posted steadily since the site was abandoned. None of which have anything to do with Groo.
It has been a while since I last checked out the Usagi article on Wikipedia, what additions or changes have you made?

I've thought about it....it can be done on the Dojo, but I never could find the time. If anyone is Wiki-savvy and knows how to set one up, let me know if you're interested in taking on the role. We could do one on the Dojo and call it wiki.usagiyojimbo.com or something. I am all for it....
As for the security issues, I would imagine we could beef up security to prevent spambots from attacking it. I haven't really looked that much into it though....

I added a little bit of information about influences on UY, including the influence of kaijyu films on the "Sumi-e" story line. I also added Vol 23: The Killer to the list of collections and made a few other small changes.Steve Hubbell wrote: It has been a while since I last checked out the Usagi article on Wikipedia, what additions or changes have you made?

I created a preliminary Usagi Wiki over at http://wiki.usagiyojimbo.com if anyone is interested in contributing. It was easier to create than I thought...Maybe we could import what's on the Wikipedia site for Usagi and go from there? Ideas?
Addendum: I modified the settings so that only Admin's can create accounts. Figured this would help ensure the integrity of the Wiki. Let me know if you'd like to contribute.

I've started writing a Tomoe article; if you look under Recent Activity or search for Tomoe Ame you'll find what little I've done thus far. However, I only own half of the collected editions, so if anyone with #14 can fill in the events of "A Funny Thing Happened..." or if someone can put in the story about how Usagi, Gen and Tomoe encountered a bakeneko after the Dragon Bellow Conspiracy, that'd be great.

The Tomoe Ame entry looks pretty good, but does the idea of UY characters having "team affiliations" like in a superhero comic book seem a little silly to anyone else? (I'm not criticizing Toshizo's contribution to the page, I know that that was probably already there).

The pages for UY characters could use a little bit of reorganization. I thought that it was a little odd that Stray Dog gets two sentences on the List of minor Usagi Yojimbo characters page but Sachiko, who appears in one issue in flashback and gets killed, has a whole page.
