365 Samurai and a Few Bowls of Rice written and drawn by J. P. Kalonji.

J. P. Kalonji wields a clean, street-informed style to deliver a tale that glistens with blood and drama, yet is ultimately uplifting. Nearly four hundred pages long, this graphic novel employs full-page panels to tell the story of an Edo-era swordsman’s quest for survival and enlightenment. When Ningen leaves his dojo at the request of his master -- to travel the world and grow as a swordsman -- he embarks on a journey that becomes a metaphor for the cycle of life and every human’s possibility for spiritual growth.

* Collaborating with such international clients as Wyclef Jean, Amnesty International, Thrasher, and Burton snowboards, illustrator J. P. Kalonji has begun to enchant the world with his energetic art style. Now he’s ready to make a splash with his English-language graphic-novel debut!

* This engaging, nearly 400-page tale draws comparisons to both Hiroaki Samura’s Blade of the Immortal and Jeff Smith’s Bone.

It looks like it will be worth checking out. I wonder how this artist's work compares to the Belgian (I think) samurai artist who Stan likes.

Sweet find man! It may not be Usagi, but from that one shot from the comic it looks like it has the same epic samurai charm of Usagi.

365 Samurai Creator Debuts Ningen's Nightmares!
10/10/2011 3:25pm

Dark Horse Manga is pleased to bring you a stylish and violent standalone adventure from the award-winning Swiss creator of 365 Samurai, J. P. Kalonji!

Ningen’s Nightmares will be Kalonji’s second graphic novel to be published in English. Kalonji has previously published works in French and has been in the graphic-novel business since the age of eighteen.

In ancient Japan, a witch seeks to use the warrior-monk Ningen’s enlightened body and spirit to resurrect a demon-samurai and unleash an era of chaos on an already-troubled country. After leaving the safety of his temple to protect poor commoners who are caught in bloody battles between feuding warlords, Ningen soon finds that several colorful bounty hunters are on his trail—seeking his head and his very lifeblood for the witch’s twisted spells!

Ningen’s Nightmares is on sale February 15, 2012!

Was not this originally being published by marvel? They had a non Marvel U samurai comic going on, but it was like five or seven bucks an issue, and not a lot of pages.
