Why is it cut short?

The official answer is that Zato-Ino, the blind swordspig, cut it off during a fight in The Dragon Bellow Conspiracy (UY Book 4).

The real answer is that it got in the way when I drew Gen's face, so had it cut off. Yeah, I know that a rhino's horn can grow back, but I don't plan on Gen's growing any time soon.

I miss Zato-Ino, and Shingen.
Book 4 I think is one of my favourites.

Phewwwww. I was beginning to think he may actually be a demon or devil and needed to hide it by grinding it daily ; like hellboy. I like the practical answer!

I have another question. Why did Gen never redo his "ceramic horn" trick? It proved to be awfully useful at the time, you think he'd redo it. Granted, I imagine he'd get sick of always breaking his horn apart, but it's still useful.

(I'm aware, of course, that the short answer is that it would still get in your way when you're drawing)

He said it cost an arm and a leg... probably either didn't want to or couldn't spend the money on replacing it.
