Marvel's Strange Tales #3, which contains Stan's long-awaited Samurai Hulk story, comes out this week!

I've been waiting for this since I first heard about it. It's going to be awesome.

I just realized that this is out the same week as the Yokai GN, which is pretty cool.

I hope that the "explicit content" label on Strange Tales #3 doesn't present a problem for younger UY fans or their parents. It might not be that big a deal; I bought #1 and 2 the other day, and even though I haven't read all of them yet, just from flipping through them, it looks like most of the content is on or below a PG-13 level.

Also, is this the first actual work by Stan (other than lettering for Groo and the Sunday Spiderman strips) to be published by Marvel? I think it is.

I hope my shop gets some. I am sure he will, more worried it will sell out cause it is Stan Sensei who did the cover.

I liked it, a lot. All the little winks to the Hulk mythos (a samurai nicknamed Sashimono, a witch called Gama) were a delight. Normally I might have had a problem with the gloomy ending, but since the Hulk has always been a tragic character to begin with, it's an appropriate conclusion. It's a shame Sakai-san wasn't allowed more pages to flesh out his story, because he's really on to something here.

I also noticed how the Hulk was able to commit seppuku with a normal samurai's blade. Wouldn't his impenetrable skin have deflected the sword? I can't help but think of all these hilarious, grisly scenarios - jumping off a cliff, drowning, swallowing poison - as Samurai Hulk desperately tries to regain his lost honor, only to keep failing.

I picked up my copy today. "Oni" is a pretty neat little story. I also like the little Fantastic 4 story by Jeffery Brown.

Long time Hulk fan and I thought Stan's story was great! Too bad the rest of the book was mostly horrid junk.

Forgot to mention, picked up my copy at Forbidden Planet before David Petersen's signing. Another excellent story from Stan there, even if it was only eight pages long (it could have been 16 easily I think if he'd been given the space).
