Hey Folks!

Here’s another sneak peek into one of the pin ups featured in the newest issue, Reed Gunther in Fish Out of Slaughter! (available June 30th)

This legendary pin up was drawn by the incredibly nice, super talented Stan Sakai!

The creator of the long running series Usagi Yojimbo, Stan took some time out of his busy schedule to draw everyone’s favorite bear-riding… rabbit?

A million thanks go out to Stan for his awesome pin up and all of his support for our little book!

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out his seminal book Usagi Yojimbo. Stan knocks out the writing, penciling, inking, and lettering all by himself every month! What a machine!

I get Reed Gunther! (well issues 1 to 3 anyway)
I also met one of them at Motor City comic con. I feel bad now because I don't remember if it was Chris or Shane!

Neat!

I've always liked the idea of a spinoff miniseries with a Meiji-era descendant of Usagi in the American west. Maybe it could be sort of like the anime movie Dagger of Kamui (not to be confused with the manga series Legend of Kamui by Sanpei Shirato). Not holding my breath for it to actually happen though.

Don't feel bad Mike! It was Chris, the illustrator. I was stuck in Los Angeles and couldn't make it out.

Thanks so much for picking up the books! Hope you enjoy them!

Haha that's awesome!

I totally recommend this book to everyone. I think their printing company sent a sample issue to our store to show off the printing, I read it (issue 2) and was hooked. When I saw they were at motor city I picked up the other issues. Its great!

The books are great. I just noticed however that my covers for issue 1 and 2 are slightly different than the ones on their webpage. I wonder why that is.

And yes it was Chris. I checked the autograph I got when I got home :)
I hope you guys do a lot more.

Hey Mike,

Issue 1 and 2 had different covers for their first editions. When we sold out of those and reprinted, we updated the covers to a look we thought fit the series a bit better.

So if you have one of those limited covers, consider it a collectible!

Thanks so much for reading!

I just read issues 1-4 and loved it. Great art, fun and wonderful story, so far. It's all-age comic that all ages would enjoy. My 8 and 11 years old daughters like it as proof. :)

I met Chris and Shane at the LBCC last month. I was wearing my Usagi Yojimbo T-shirt. Chris told me about Mr. Sakai's pin-up in issue 4. Both were super nice guys. Chris even did a sketch in my self-portrait sketchbook (and included a little nod to Cami, my daughter who was with me):

I highly recommend this comic. You should check it out. I hope they are able to make it and do more issues after #5 is complete.

Peace, maka
