Okay-- I'm probably double-posting or whatever-- my apologies to the mods if this is somewhere else-- but now it appears we have to register in order to register for Comic-Con.

Did I get that right? Even the pros attending have to PRE-reg to reg.

On one hand, I can understand why they are doing it like this. It means there will be a central repository of peoples' details that users can change at will if need be, and then use to register for any of the organisation's conventions (such as Wondercon and Comic-Con). Essentially, you'll have an account there with your name, address, contact details etc, and then when logged into your account, go to buy passes for whatever cons you wish to attend.
The real reason for them doing this is because, as far as I know, they will stop public pre-sales of any con passes at shows, and make it 100% online only. So at SDCC 2012, I predict you will not be able to buy a pass for 2013. After the complete clusterf*** of pre-sales at this year's show, it is merely inevitable. I guess they are then rolling it out so all potential attendees have to do it this way, even the professionals, artists, guests and what-not.
I've already created a member ID and gone through the process as my friend Erik got me passes for next year at this year's show (people who got passes for next year have had the last 3 weeks to sign up). Hopefully with job acquirement willing and funds saved up, I will actually be able to make it out there!

With a breeze comes a storm, but then you'll all be washed away...
