Armored Usagi Statue

Post by elgaucho »

Hi Folks,

Kinda hoping someone here who cares as much about all things Usagi might be able to give me a little advice.

I've been building my little collection of Usagi related statues in the last few years, including the series 2 armored Usagi statue with the accompanying armored tokage lizard.

The other half, keen to keep the house clean, commissioned a cleaning company to come out and clean the place.

After their last visit, I spotted that the helm on the tokage lizard had come off. I assume that they dropped my tokage when they were moving things around and didn't actually realize that they had broken it. They certainly don't want to admit to it.

I'm obviously quite upset at this, and not sure what I should do. Do I try and glue it back together - is there a specific glue type? Is there anyone in the UK that does these kinds of repairs?

I don't imagine I can get a replacement one as compensation from the cleaning company for the damage - they're all likely sold (why would there be any left???), but then again, I also don't want rid of the figure - it's a classic! Plus it'd be shameful to have the current one go to anyone other than a fan if it came to that!

I thought I'd post and see what other fellow fans of my favourite comic thought I should do.

Any views would be welcome at this point!

(it doesn't look broken in any way - it just looks as though the helmet has been taken off, as if it were detachable, so it is quite discreet)

When I got my series two statues, a little bit had come off from one of them and super glue worked fine on it.

it's hard to say for certain. i'm assuming that the statue is a resin cast?? if so, a drop or two of super glue should work fine. though superglue works on just about anything, there are a few items that its not very compatible with, cotton being one of them. if you ever happen to spill a drop on your shirt, you will find your shirt smoking like its on fire (not actually on fire) just the chemicle burning the cotton. after the smoke clears (1.5 second) you will notice a nice little round hole in your shirt :(

I had something similar happen to my Phantom bust. Cat jumped on the shelf and knocked it off. The arm broke right off!
Some crazy glue and it was fine. You can see a little mark if you look close enough though, but I don't think that will happen in your case.

That's great. Thank you very much for the responses.

I'll take your advice and get some super glue for it. It is described as a Polystone Statue - I assume that would be fine?
