Hiatus?? Status

Hi, I'm new to the forum, but have been following Usagi for years. I think I have almost all of his original comics and a lot of the books. I have been trying to find any new editions of Usagi comics and Dark Horse is not showing anything since #144. I asked the local comic store and they said there are no new Usagi's (other than compilations). I have read through some of the forum and noticed someone mentioned "this hiatus". What is Usagi's status?
Thanks for any information, I have been trying to find out something for months.

Welcome to the Dojo Banshee74,
Stan is working with Mike Richardson to do a mini-series of the 47 ronin. Usagi is on hold until that is done. I forget how many issues it is (5 or 6?). The first isn't out, so my guess would be new Usagi stories won't be in print until sometime in 2013. Some information about the 47 ronin can be found in this thread:

47 ronin will be 5 issues...when stan returns with usagi it will be with a little special project, his war of the worlds usagi story in which a martian space ship comes to visit earth in feudal japan!...old summaries of stans idea for that project noted that by this time myamoto usagi will be part of the geishu clan...(!!)and there was lots of ninja (hopefully neko) and aliens fighting and samurai armor in it;)...

Came in looking for this. My last issue is #144. Can't wait for the new Ronin book. Might pick up a graphic novel in the meantime.
