Usagi Collected Editions (from DH)

Hi,
I'm trying to see if Dark Horse will publish some kind of Deluxe hardcover edition, as Fantagraphics did with their Usagi books. M. Sakai once told me it was a distinct possibility. I wrote to Dark Horse a couple of times since then, and I cannont seem to be able to get an answer (of any kind). Is that in the plans or should I start trying to find all the little TPB in softcover?
Thanks!

The only way to get the out-of-print Dark Horse paperbacks, it appears, is to scour used book stores and Amazon.com.
I took the time to browse Google for the paperbacks and found the following:
- Reasonably priced books: 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26
- Rare or ridiculously expensive books: 11, 12, 18, 24
Book 11 (Seasons) is the most expensive; it's $1000!

Dark Horse is planning to release omnibus editions similar to the Fantagraphics ones, but their schedule is really full right now concentrating on publishing new material (where the money is) rather than reprinting existing work. They will get to it once their schedule opens up.
Unused copies of Book 11 going for $1,000 on Amazon?! And that's just the starting price?! Another copy goes for more than $2,400?! Plus shipping?! And here I've been selling my copies for cover price. I have three left, which I will be bringing either to Gem Con or WonderCon Anaheim.

$1000 for book 11?? My copy is near mint, and I'm suddenly getting ideas...
(Besides, if there's a Dark Horse Omnibus Edition coming some day...)
I know it would have cost quite a bit more to do, but I always wished books 8-10 had been printed with Tom Luth's colours still in. I still have most of the Mirage run, and they look just amazing. (That said, I actually think I still prefer UY as a nominally B&W comic.)

Don't forget to check your local comic shops. They often have some or most of the TPBs at cover price. $1000 is just goofy.

My Book #11 is like new, and I use a mint-condition
Usagi Yojimbo TMNT card from the late 1980's as a bookmark. I could bring both to my local BMW dealership and exchange it for a new car!

Unfortunately, that would not have been feasible. My initial agreement when Mirage ceased publishing was that I was to receive ownership of the film negatives (this is before digital). I went to DH with the intention of reprinting those stories in color (which DH wholly supported). However, as soon as Mirage stopped publishing, the printer destroyed all their negatives (thinking they would never be used, and they take up a lot of space). Recoloring those stories would have been too costly so we just went with b/w, fitting with the other books and ongoing series. Actually, as good as Tom's color was, I really do prefer those stories in black and white.

Thanks everyone! I really hope the omnibus or collected editions come out soon. I won't pay 1,000$ bucks for the rarest ones.
Still, I'm glad to know this is planned, if in some uncertain future, by DH.

Just cos they are listed for the price doesn't mean anyone will ever pay that of course. Like the stupid BINs you find on eBay.

Hi everyone.
Any news about the reprints of TPBs 22, 23 & 24? (I've recently bought tpbs 25, 26 and pre-ordeded volume 27... so volumes 22-24 will soon be the only ones lacking in my shelves)
Thanks,
/Lucas
