so where are the reports on 'the last request'??
hi guys, I was just wondering why I cannot find any words on what the usagi short film premiere at san diego comic con was like?...was it postponed and I didn't see this announced or hasn't it been shown but will be tonight?
I thought saturday was supposed to be premiere day if my memory does not betray me...
any info is appreciated, friends..
greetings

Yes, it got shown. I guess people are still having fun at Comic-Con! But it went down really well, and the voices are really good too, which is what I was worried about.

Re: so where are the reports on 'the last request'??
It premiered at the Stan Sakai panel yesterday. Unfortunately the panels are back to back and we weren't able to really sync things up. The Comic Con projectors setting was set way too dark and the movie we presented was not what i wanted to show. There were no technicians to be found who could help us rectify the problem too.
We were really worried about the sound and the sound was fine but the visuals were all wrong. I think the crowd got the gist of it. It was great panel to be on with Stan and I'm very honored he let me be on stage with him but I'm bummed out that I didn't get to show the movie the way it was meant to be shown. It's actually forcing me to release it sooner then I wanted too. I may give the dojo a password so they can see what I intended for them in the premiere.

Thanks Roel,
Look forward to seeing/buying it. Is there going to be a digital release as well as a dvd hard copy?
It must have been challenging to show the video with very little time to set up. But so cool you were able to be a part of the 30th anniversary panel. I hope we get to see the panel (and the last request) on youtube. I want to see Diana's interview of Stan.
Peace, maka

Thanks for showing it Roel. I love stop-motion animation and, despite the uncalibrated projector, thought it seemed well received by the audience. I hope this gets picked up and turned into a feature length film.

thanks roel and mayhem for the answers!so, the visuals were not what you wanted to show.do you mean by that they showed a COMPLETELY wrong clip or was the picture quality not what you had prepared to show?
thanks for the offer for the dojo, too..really looking forward to both the 30th anniversary panel and the last request.

@coolray, the movie shown was the correct footage but the contrast from the projector was way too dark. You could not see the nice subtleties of the steam and other fx shots.
I want to put it up on the web sooner than later to show how it was meant to be viewed. If I get between 20-30 people who want to see it I may put it up for a day or two next week. If there's only a limited response then I will not show it until I'm completely done with it which will be another month or two.
It's 90% complete but I need to do final sound mix at sky sound and want to finesse the animation a bit more. If we get enough people to request here and on the Lintika films Facebook page then I will give a special code to view it online sometime next week.

Hi Roel, I would love to see it!
If you only get a limited response I may copy / paste this response 29 more times but with a different name at the end
Thanks
David

Dying to see this.
I never considered stop motion as the way to go for Usagi until I saw your trailer clip. And now I can't imagine a better medium. Straight animation, 3-D-looking CGI, none of it could ever be as great as what I've seen of your film. Can't wait to see the rest. It's like a grim animagic samurai special. Great work so far.
