General discussion about Usagi Yojimbo, the comics, the stories, the characters, collectibles, TV appearances, Stan Sakai, Space Usagi, Nilson & Hermy, and all other related topics.
Recently I've been on an Usagi Yojimbo buying frenzy, much to the dismay of my wallet and wife.
In the past few weeks I've managed to pick up several hardcovers: #3 The Wanderer's Road, #10 Brink of Life & Death, #11 Seasons, #13 Grey Shadows and #14 Demon Mask.
I hit eBay and grabbed all the Fantagraphics comic books, except #18 which seems to be hard to find (is it?).
I doubt I'll ever get the Albedo issues, but the Critter issues are next in line.
So my question is, I recently saw a listing for a title called "Anything Goes" but I don't see it on the list of publications on the Usagi Wiki.
Can anyone tell me what story it contains or enlighten me otherwise in any way?

Anything Goes is a 6 issue limited series that was created by Gary Groth as a benefit to raise money to help with Fantagraphics legal bills, accrued during Michael Fleisher's defamation lawsuit against Fantagraphics Books and Harlan Ellison. The conceit is that the artist and writer contributors were told "anything goes" as far as what their contribution would be.
Stan's contribution was the cover for the 6th and final issue.
In the Zone (Shanda Fantasy Arts) was another publication which Stan Sakai contributed a Usagi cover for. This one was to help raise money for Michael (Zonie the Coyote) Scot-McMurry's battle against cancer.
I can't imagine why Fantagraphics #18 would be harder to find than any of the others. Hopefully the Critters issues won't be too difficult either, the only hard to find ones in the entire 50 issue run for me were #40-49. Actually I'm still missing Birthright #2 but I'll get one eventually. And the only valuable Albedo issue is #2 of course; it isn't hard to find, just expensive heh.
Stan's art for AG #6 is the same art used for the Usagi computer game in the late 80s...

When I was completing my set of Usagi comics, I bought a lot of sets on eBay. I have duplicates of a lot. If any of you are looking for specific issues in any of the runs, let me know. We can make a deal. (excluding Albedo #2 ) Peace, maka
I am pretty sure that Fantagraphics issue #18 was the hardest Usagi Yojimbo issue to find for me as well. This was back during the Mirage period and the Fantagraphics issues were not all that old yet.
It's been so long since I bought my issues off eBay, I can't recall. There's nothing to suggest why #18 would be hard to find. Okay, it's the last part of Dragon Bellow, but it can't have had any less issues printed. Has to be some reason though if it's not on eBay and almost all other issues are.

Thank you Maka! I won't tie up this discussion with my list of wants, but your offer is welcome. I will drop you a PM and see what we came come up with.
As it turns out, I've already been offered several sought after titles from another Dojo member.

I really don't know, as I've only been looking for a week or two. Up until now I have avoided eBay, but as it turns out, it has been the easiest and quickest way to acquire most of the missing issues.
However, regarding issue 18, even when I searched for completed or sold listings, I was only able to find one from July.
Maybe it's just timing - I'm sure something will pop-up eventually.
I bought all my comics in giants lots with a few gaps here and there. On occassion Albedo 3 & 4 go for a decent price. I would love Albedo 1 & 2 I bought all my individual comics from mycomicshop.com or atomicavenue.com to fill in the gaps.
