Argh!!!! My comic shop didn't have any left. So of course the next shop I went to didn't have any either.

I suppose I should call ahead next time.

Don't your comic shops have pull lists if you're a regular subscriber/visitor to them?!

I've never considered getting a subscription because Usagi is the only comic I read and it's usually on the shelf. Everything else I purchase in trade or hardcover format. The good thing is that there's probably 6 or 7 stores within 25 miles.

Geez, I remember once upon a time when there used to be "several" comic shop here where I live.

Luckily Fanfare, the same shop where I bought my first issue of Groo the Wanderer from way back in '84 or '85, is still around.

Fair enough. I have a couple of shops near me that I use for comic supplies mostly (bags, boards, boxes) but my pull list is actually with a place about 100 miles away, and I have all the stuff shipped to me once per month. Given I read Usagi, Mouse Guard and TMNT, then there's always a few new issues coming out each month. And the hardcovers. My comic place learned their lesson with Saga #1 hah hah, and ordered two more in each time for the remaining run, and they've sold through them quickly so far. Waiting to hear back from them on how much the Usagi Gallery Edition will cost, they tend to pass on discounts to me as well. They even got the mis-print for the latest Mouse Guard issue, and put it aside for me before the reprint gets sent out through Diamond. They don't quite get everything in (I've had to source eBay for a couple of the 1:25 covers) and occasionally they forget to ship something, but the customer service is second to none, and that's why I stay with them.

Yeah, I can't complain (about the amount of stores that is ). Starting next month one of the largest comic/pop culture stores in America is opening up in my neck of the woods. It's called Gods & Monsters. Neil Gaiman and Warren Ellis are co-owners.

It's approximately 20,000 square feet - hopefully it works out for them.

Why was the Mouse Guard a misprint?

You have 6 or 7 stores in that small of a distance?! I only have two nearby, one of which is 45 driving minutes away and the other about 20.

The 25 miles is probably "as the crow flies", but yeah Central Florida has tons of book stores. It's so hot outside we have to have plenty of indoor entertainment.

Traffic can always make the journey a bit longer though.

The Mouse Guard cover was printed on the same paper used in the interiors rather than the thicker paper stock it's supposed to have.

I also buy most of my trades from InStockTrades. I had pre-ordered all the Saga Hardcovers on Amazon so I don't run the risk of missing any, but they are much cheaper from InStockTrades. The nice thing is that Amazon gets their comics a week or so after the comic stores, so I have time to order it for cheaper and cancel my Amazon preorder if InStockTrades gets the Saga HC in.

Saga volume 1 was dirt cheap. I remember getting my UY Special Edition for $70. I should have purchased an extra. I don't think you can cancel InStockTrades pre-orders. I suppose that's a plus with Amazon.

It's getting more and more difficult to scroll past the story every time I come back to this thread. I'm surprised I've lasted this long.

As Jabba said, printing snafu for the latest MG issue. My place gets many of their comics sent direct in bulk from the US, so their issues were shipped before the "recall" and announcement on the reprint.

I had a check on the price I paid for Saga #2 from them, and it was 40 GBP. Even with the current conversion rate (US$ to GBP), that's still under RRP. I recently got the TMNT 2012 Annual hardcover which was RRP $125, and I was charged 65 GBP for it. So given the Usagi Gallery Edition is $125 as well, I imagine it will probably be about 65 GBP too.

Yeah, both LCS that I've used over the years have done very well in keeping UY on the shelf when it's released. Still, I keep it on my short pull list just to make sure, y'know?

I have this issue in my box now, but my LCS is about 40 minutes away from home so I can't exactly stop by there every day. I have to plan a day trip there so hopefully I'll get there in the next few weeks.

Does your LCS have an online preorder system of sorts or an email contact to place your reservations (aside from telephone/mobile)?

As per my experience, my LCS provides an online preorder form with a list of their weekly releases, announced via facebook. They normally accept reservations from Friday to Tuesday morning. I normally do my pre-orders around Friday evening or Saturday. On average I get a text message from the store every Thursday (in the Philippines, new titles are released oftentimes not on a Wednesday due to issues that are logistical in nature (congested ports of entry, whether by sea or air in particular) that my comics are available for pick up.

As for the length of time I travel... well, depending on where I am, my LCS (located inside a mall) is usually a 30 minute bus ride from home, and 45 from my office (both depend on traffic conditions). There's also a comic book store located on a mall (again... sorry, my country has an intense penchant for these shopping areas... after all we have some of the largest of such buildings in the world), a 10-15 minute walk from my workplace.
