OK, I just saw the July issue of wizard, and Usagi placed third in DArk Horse's "bad@$$" list. The funny thing is, he's standing on what looks like a Stan-Sakai-drawn mound of corpses while looking somewhat suspiciously (or contemptuously?) at Conan. Did Mr. Sakai actually draw this, or was it a Wizard staffer?

I did indeed draw that. Usagi placed second in body count, right after Conan and ahead of Hellboy and the Goon. That seemed right, since Conan is much older that Usagi.

I had the original at San Diego.

Thanks for the notice concerning the results of the Dark Horse Bodycount poll, I would never have found it otherwise... I very rarely buy Wizard.

I also want to comment on the Indie Jones Price Guide write-up for Usagi Yojimbo in the same issue of Wizard (page 152)...

While it is nice to see the staff writer (free-lance writer?) for Wizard do a special piece on the values of the various Usagi Yojimbo issues and appearences, it would have been even nicer if they could have spent more than 5 minutes researching so that they could have gotten the correct issue counts for the differant publishers (i.e. Fantagraphics 1-30, Mirage 1-5, Doomsday Squad 3, etc.).

On a possitive note, Albedo #2 had a value of $250, which is better than the last time I looked it up in Overstreet.

They must be using ebay to help establish comic book values. ebay is slowly becoming THE avenue to shop for comics, especially back issues. You can buy directly from other collectors. I predict in 15-20 years comic book shops will go out of business (or become web-based) and book stores like B&N and Borders will end up having to open up expanded sections for new comic book issues. eBay even had their own pavilion at SDCC as well as a panel on how to shop/bid for comics online!! They intend to drive the mom and pop stores out of business like a cyberspace Wal Mart!!!!
