Usagi Yojimbo DojoBoard

OK, so on re-reading Lightning Strikes Twice I noticed something- at the beginning of the story when Usagi is looking over the assassins Inazuma killed, a figure in dark clothes with a straw hat and staff appears. Something about this figure provokes Usagi to draw his sword but when he does the figure in dark is not in sight- only when Usagi is moving on he reappears heading in the opposite direction.

Does anybody know this character's name? Or if he appears in other UY stories?

It looks like one of the Shi assassins to me. I just flipped through some of the following trade paperbacks in my office and couldn't find any more. It's not the Lord of the Owls. Is it Koji from Duel at Kitanoji? But the character you mention doesn't have Koji's sideburns (but he is wearing a tied-down hat). I seem to remember a couple of stories with characters who were in the shadows who Usagi sensed but didn't see come back in future stories. I don't know if this is one of them. I guess I have to read the stories again to find out.
