What is the overall purpose of Usagi Yojimbo?

I want to get an idea of what makes UY a great comic book.

Well, I'll try anyway.

Usagi Yojimbo is the proof that you can be successful without writing a violent, aggressive comic and without super-heroes.

Just the story of a man living his life. Sometimes sad, sometimes funny, trying to handle the challanges of life in a honorable way.

Maybe you will want to read the two online comics at the Animation page (on the lower right side). These contain a lot of what makes UY so special.
