Tom would sometimes give us a choice of different approaches to the coloring. In this case, the second one has a more monochronomic background which I preferred, because it made Usagi pop out a lot more. Diana preferred the first cover, but we're going with my choice.

I thought you might want to see both.

I have to agree. The cover with the darker background provides a better effect. The version with the more colorful background draws too much attention away from Usagi and places it on the corpses behind him. Especially that unfortunate fellow to Usagi's lower left. Thing is, now the "signature box" in the lower right corner of the art in blue really stands out. Maybe if that were blended into the ground color some more?

Thanks for the suggestion. I've asked Tom to gray down the signature box by a touch.

Part of the fun is trying to puzzle out what exactly this cover is supposed to mean. It's already been stated that what we see on the cover isn't a Jei-possessed Usagi. However, I've noticed that several covers of UY in the past always reflect the events within the story to some degree, such as the front image of UY #73(http://www.usagiyojimbo.com/other/image ... y%2073.jpg). We never see Usagi become destitute as the cover suggests, but the picture does mirror a predicament another character faced in the narrative. Could the cover possibly imply that someone else becomes possessed by Jei?

The speculation continues...

Actually, it is a Jei-possessed Usagi. I think my original comment to Todd was, "Don't let the cover mislead you. It's not what you think. " Or something along those lines. I haven't fully written the story yet, but it does involve Chizu.

Actually Stan is totally right. My interpretation was that UY 98 had nothing to do with 101...which it doesn't...I took it one step further and stated the issue does not have a Jei-possessed Usagi in it....at least not in the traditional sense. The cover suggests that it will. So who knows?

That could mean Jei's curse is not permanent and irreversible. Couldn't this malediction be, in fact...

...some kind of infectious disease, like in the movie 28 Days Later ?

Maybe predecessor of Louis Pasteur found a vaccine against it.

Oh great Chizu is going to be the one posseessed by Jei's soul...and Usagi will have to kill her. You are so evil, Mr. Sakai.

If this scenario were to happen, the series would only last two more issues.

Why? Because everyone would have killed everybody else.

Hey, you're the one who wanted Chizu back. Sometimes the worst curse is getting what you wish for.

But we'll see...
