Bears for San Diego

Post by Stan Sakai »

Daughter Hannah is working on her Girl Scout Gold Award--collecting teddy bears to donate to the South Pasadena Fire and Police Departments. Bears are given to comfort children after traumatic experiences, such as home fires or domestic disturbance calls.

She has contacted churches and other organizations in the area. If you would like to help, and if you will be at the San Diego Con, bring a new teddy over to our booth--#4906.

Thank you.

Well, I do hope you've planned for a little extra space in your car on your trip back home, for all the advertisement will leave you with loads of bears, I think....
Greetings from overseas

Thank you, Maka, for the bears your daughters gave us at the Obon signing yesterday.

We will take any new bears Beany Baby-sized and bigger. But not those 6 foot bears like you see at FAO Schwartz.

Thank you, but don't feel like you have to give a teddy bear.

You are welcome Mr. Sakai,

Please thank Hannah for us.

I'm trying to teach my girls about the importance of giving to their community. Hannah's Girl Scouts Bear collection cause was a perfect way to have them give. We talked about a girl neighbor who was with her father on the freeway when their car caught on fire. The father was only able to get the child car seat out before the car burned up. The fire department came, put out the fire and gave the girl a teddy bear. The father said you could see in her eyes and how she held that bear tight how much comfort that bear gave her. It's a reminder that every effort for compassion is worth it.

Peace, maka

P.S. Your dedication to Hannah in Usagi Yojimbo Book 22: Tomoe's Story is very touching.

She thanked me for it at dinner last night. Someone pointed it out to her. She never noticed it. Then Matthew said, "She has another dedication?" We pointed out that he already has a second dedication in Fathers & Sons. Sharon said, "I only have one."

I don't have any.

Thank you all for the bears:

The person who mailed me the bears was, of course, Steve Hubbell.
