Usagi Yojimbo DojoBoard

I´m still in Mexico City, but have been too busy to post anything for awhile (see Ai Caramba, Usagi in Mexico).

One big news is that I did receive a Silver Pen Award on Saturday night. Other recipients were Sergio Aragones, Juan Gimenez, and others I´m too tired to remember right now.

If you´re thinking you had never heard of the Silver Pen Award, well neither did I until the day of the awards. It´s pretty neat. I´ll see if I can publish a picture of it in the comic.

Having a great time. Still haven´t made it to the museum, but hoping to see the pyramids tomorrow (Monday).

Congrats Stan! Yet another award to add to your collection... Was it for anything specific, like best comic, best writer/artist, etc?

Congtratulations Stan! And be careful on those steps! I am told that they are very small and the climb is steep!

The Silver Pen is what the Utopia convention is hoping will be like San Diego´s Inkpot Awards. The recipients are selected by a committee (like the Inkpots), rather than a general voting process (as is the case with the Harveys or Eisners).

This is the first year for Utopia and I´m very impressed with their treatment of guests and generally how smoothly everything is being run. I´m also grateful (and surprised) that I´m one of the very first recipients of this award.

The van taking us to the pyramids just arrived, so I´m signing off for today.
