Usagi Cap!

There will be an embroidered Usagi cap coming out in May from Nogginwear. They are a subscription cap company that only does mail order, and there will be just one "printing" of the design (which I have not drawn yet).

Here is a link for a $5 discount if you preorder the cap now.

Cheers :)

I take it then that Noggin will be selling the caps directly, and they won't be through the Usagi store?

There is no harm in cross posting. People who miss this thread might see it there. :). Peace, maka

They will be selling the caps directly, but I think we're going to have some of them available on the website and at conventions. Not entirely sure yet.

I turned in the design for the Usagi cap, and NogginWear is taking orders. If you pre-register for a hat you can get a $5 discount off the $35 price. This include free shipping, though I don't know about international orders. Here is the website, and I hope someone on the Dojo Boards will post a photo of the actual hat.

After giving them as gifts to friends and family we won't have a lot left to sell at conventions, so don't count on it. We will probably sell out of our inventory at San Diego.

Wow, they look great! Now to decide if I need just one, or do I get a spare?

From their Facebook post:
It is with great pleasure and honor that we announce multiple award winning comic book creator, writer and artist Stan Sakai as the very first artist for our Limited Edition Artist Series Hat. We could not be more excited about working with Stan to create this one of a kind limited edition hat, we will be making a limited amount of this hat and when they are gone they will not be reproduced- a true collectors hat. You can pre-register for this hat at http://www.nogginwear.com/stansakai and receive a $5 discount prior to the full launch of our website in April. This hat will be designed by Stan and showcase embroidery of Usagi and Stan's signature. We want to thank Stan for working with us on this project and look forward to doing this project and many more with Stan and multiple other artist's.
I hope that the part I highlighted comes true and that we get more designs in the future. I'm thinking Gen needs a hat. :P

Yeah, I saw in one of their posts that they talk about working with other artists in the future and at the end mention Scott Shaw and Sergio. I'm hoping we get some Mike Mignola too, as I'd go for a Hellboy hat. Maybe a Kevin Eastman or Peter Laird TMNT hat, though I'm sure they have sufficient other merchandising avenues.

Right now, I'm a very infrequent hat wearer. Looks like I'll have to start becoming one, though.

Hi Steve,

I'm sure you saw the email I sent to the Groop about the Usagi hat. I've been talking to Stan about posting the info on the message boards. Gary said you were in contact with the person who runs it. I can post it myself, but I feel it would get more traction from an established member of the boards. Maybe even you.

I want to make this a huge success for Stan. If it works for him, Sergio is sure to do a Groo hat as well!

The link to one of the press releases is below. Let me know if I can answer any questions you may have!

I'm also attaching the Wondercon promo flyer I created for Stan.

Thanks!

I FB messaged the nogginwear. They said the $5 off code is only good for one hat because they didn't want someone swooping in and buying 100s. But they also said let them know how many I wanted and they would work on getting me them with the discount. Very nice of them. If you want to buy more than one hat, contact them and ask. Good luck!

I am going to buy two. I lost two of the Dark Horse Usagi Chop baseball caps. One at Coney Island's Cyclone and one in Hawaii. Fortunately, I was able to pick one additional one on eBay. But now they are impossible to find. It is very used, starting to fray, and looks dirty despite washing it several times. I'm very much looking forward to this new Usagi cap! I wear caps a lot to protect my face from the sun when I walk.

Peace, maka
