SoCal Dojo Meet-Up

So a few weeks ago, several of us southern California Dojoboard members were able to get together for a dinner get-together and comics and collectibles exchange. We'd been talking about it for some time, but with the pandemic and everything it took awhile for the time to be just right.

Since it happened on Saturday October 23rd, I've already forgotten most of the details, so hopefully some of the other attendees will chime in and add their own point of view... In attendance was Michael (Maka), Kyle (jabba359), Adriel (grusagi), Daniel (Spam Musubi #7) and myself, Michael (maichan). We met at a BBQ restaurant that I think Daniel selected Dr. Hogly Wogly's Tyler Texas BBQ

Here we are all gathered around the table.

Oh gosh, that's blurry.

Here, let me loan the waitress a pair of seeing glasses...

Ah! That's better.

If you can correctly guess who is who, you win bragging rights. Sorry, I'm cheap...

After filling up on all sorts of meats and various side dishes, and good conversations, we were all pretty full and it was time to head back to our own little corners of the world. But before that we hung out in the parking lot for a while, and exchanged goodies. It probably looked like we were up to no good, and doing nefarious things out of the trunk of Maka's car

I walked away with a few things at the end of the evening. :D

From Maka...

This poster came about by a goofy way, and it involved David R (from Japan), so I owe both David and Maka a round of thanks for getting it in my hands.

It was a great time all around, especially since my birthday was the day before.

Okay gentlemen, that's all I can recall for now, anyone want to add anything?

It was fun! Maichan and I wore matching shirts (Demon Usagi, which seemed thematically appropriate with Halloween right around the corner). Out of the restaurant choices we were considering, we went with Dr. Hogly Wogly's because of the funny name. Turns out they make really good BBQ, some of the best I've had (and I've had quite a bit over the last year and a half, as I spent almost a year of that time in Texas).

Silly me.... shows you how often I eat out, or eat BBQ... I ordered a 3 meat combo plate - beef brisket, pulled pork and chicken. I didn't realize until after we ate that I forgot to put bbq sauce on my meats.
Fortunately I had enough left over for 3 bento lunches and was able to savor the meat with sauce each time thereafter.

And in case anyone is interested: Dr. Hogly Wogly's BBQ

The problem with Texas BBQ is that it's known for brisket. Give me pulled pork any day!! :D
